A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE BEAUTIFICATION AND LANDSCAPING
OF THE MEMORIAL (BLUE) BRIDGE AND THE OREGON STREET INTERCHANGE
IN THE CITY OF PASCO
WHEREAS, the exit from the Memorial Bridge on the Pasco
side of the Columbia River has never been beautified or landscaped
since the Bridge was constructed;in-the early fifties, and
WHEREAS, the Oregon Street Interchange has not been
beautified or landscaped since its completion in the early seventies,
and
WHEREAS, the Pasco Chamber of Commerce and other civic
organizations, on several occasions, requested that the State
Department of Transportation consider landscaping and beautifying
these highway facilities, and
WHEREAS, the former State Department of Highways did provide
for the beautification of the Kennewick side of the Memorial Bridge
several years ago, and
WHEREAS, beautifying and landscaping the Memorial Bridge
and Oregon Street interchange would materially enhance the appearance
of the entrances to the City of Pasco, and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Transportation has, in the
past, and in many areas of the State, uniformally provided for
landscaping and beautifying interchanges and approaches to bridges
as part of the total construction of the project; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO:
That the City Council of the City of Pasco does hereby
petition and request the State Highway Commission and the State
Department of Transportation include sufficient funds to beautify
and landscape the Memorial Bridge and the Oregon Street interchange
at the earliest possible date, and that these funds be included in
the current biennium, if possible, but in no event later than the
next biennium and that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
the Director of the State Department of Transportation, the Governor
of the State of Washington, and the members of the State Highway
Commission.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Pasco, Washington,

At the regular meeting of the Pasco City Council, held October 17,
1977, they passed Resolution No. 1121 which pertains to beautification
and landscaping of Memorial Bridge which crosses the Columbia River
in the Tri Cities.
We are respectfully requesting that consideration be given to include
sufficient funds to beautify and landscape the Memorial Bridge and Oregon
Street Interchange at the earliest possible date, and that these funds be
included in the current biennium. I am taking the liberty of sending you
additional copies of Resolution No. 1121 for each member of the Highway
Commission.
