HomeMy WebLinkAbout1116 ResolutionRESOLUTION NO. 1116 A RESOLUTION RELATING TO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURE OF BLOCK GRANT FUNDS TO PAY FOR A SPECIAL CENSUS. WHEREAS the City of Pasco is interested in becoming a part of the Kennewick -Richland Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area (SMSA) for the purpose of securing a regular entitlement to Community Development Block Grant Funds, and WHEREAS the one criterion that the City of Pasco must meet in order to become part of the Kennewick -Richland Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area is the 15,000 minimum population requirement, and WHEREAS the City of Pasco, as of June 23, 1977, has a population of 15,375 as determined by the Office of Program Planning and Fiscal Management, Population Studies Division, and WHEREAS the City of Pasco has been advised that only population data supplied by the U.S. Bureau of Census may be used in amending the title or definition of an existing Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area, and WHEREAS the estimated cost of a special census under the auspices of the U.S. Bureau of Census is no more than Ten Thousand & 00/100 ($10,000.00) Dollars, and WHEREAS it is in the best interest of the City of Pasco to cause to have conducted this special census expressed hereinabove; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE -CITY OF PASCO: That the staff of the City of Pasco be and the same is hereby authorized to commence the necessary steps to have the special census above mentioned taken at a cost of no more than Ten Thousand & 00/1100 ($10,000.00) Dollars.
