A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PASCO ESTABLISHING A
PROCEDURE FOR HANDLING OF CLAIMS AGAINST THE CITY
IN AMOUNTS UNDER $300.00.
WHEREAS, a high percentage of the claims made by individuals against the
City of Pasco are in the sum of $300.00 or less, and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City to accept or reject said
claims and pay those claims accepted directly from the funds of the City without
forwarding those small claims to the insurance company, and
WHEREAS, a procedure is desired to implement the handling of such claims,
NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section,'l. It is hereby declared the policy of the City of Pasco to handle
claims made against the City in the amount of $300.00 or less at an administrative
level.
Section 2. -At such time as the Clerk receives any claim in the amount of
$300.00 or less, a copy of said claim shall be sent to the City Attorney, to the
City Manager, and to the head of the department which would be most familiar with
the subject matter of the claim.
Section 3. The department head shall make a report on all factual matters
referred to within the claim and said report shall be forwarded to the City Attor-
ney and the City Manager. The City Attorney shall thereafter evaluate the City's
liability on said claim and recommend an acceptance, rejection or compromise to
the City Manager.
Section 4. The City Manager shall notify the claimant whether said claim
will be accepted, rejected or compromised.
Section Every three months the City Manager shall make a report to the
City Council on the disposition of all such claims.
