HomeMy WebLinkAbout1017 ResolutionRESOLUTION NO. 1017 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PASCO REAPPOINT- ING ED HENDLER, CHAIRMAN OF THE INTER -CITY BRIDGE COMMITTEE AND OFFERING CONTINUED �'UPPORT AND COMMENDATION FOR THE WORK OF THE INTER -CITY BRIDGE COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN. WHEREAS, 1976 will mark ten years of developments of the Inter -City Bridge ; and WHEREAS, On January 7, 1976, Ed Hendler,, Chairman of the Inter -City Bridge Committee, presented a report to the Pasco and Kennewick City Councils, together with Councilmen elect; and WHEREAS, During this report it was recognized that there has been created an unusual accomplishment by one individual in the development of the Inter -City Bridge and its subsequent construction and funding; and WHEREAS, It is necessary that continued support be offered by the City Coun- cils to continue the activities of the Inter -City Bridge Committee Chairman, Ed Hendler, and his dedicated service necessary to the successful completion of the Bridge project; and WHEREAS, Ed Hendler has demonstrated his devotion to civic advancement by his unselfish donation of time and talent to the Cities of Pasco and Kennewick and the Counties of Franklin and Benton, and to his other community services recognized through- out the Tri -Cities in an effort to build a better Tri -Cities, and to the communities at: large; and WHEREAS, The Pasco -Kennewick Inter -City Bridge will be the first of its kind to ever be constructed in the United States and across the mighty Columbia River, and will offer the public a rare opportunity to see a new design concept in bridge engineer- ing in this Nation; and WHEREAS, We as the citizens of the City of Pasco are proud of the fact that Ed Hendler is one of us, and recognize his very great contribution to the well-being of the Tri -Cities, and make this public statement and adopt this Resolution; Resolution No. NOW, THEREFORE r`7) 1017 -2- Date: January 27, 1976 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That our full support is given to Ed Hendler to continue as Chair- man of the Inter -City Bridge Committee with authority to negotiate on behalf of the Cities iii matters where immediate judgement must be exercised in the welfare and best interests of the Cities. Section 2. That Ed Hendler be commended for his untiring zeal and activity in the work necessary to complete the Inter -City Bridge Project in the best interests of the Cities of Pasco and Kennewick; and further, we wish him success in his future work. Section 3. That a copy of this document be presented to Ed Hendler, and spread in full on our records and minutes. Section 4.
