HomeMy WebLinkAbout0900 Resolution0 RESOLUTION NO. 900 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING POLICY FOR THE USE OF FACILITIES FOR THE CONDUCT OF CITY MEETINGS. WHEREAS, a policy should be established for the use of facilities for the conduct of City meetings in accordance with recommendations of the Pasco Anti -Discrimination Commission; NOW, THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1 . While all citizens have the right of voluntary association and to gather with whom they choose, the City of Pasco should not conduct its meetings on the premises of those organizations who by their governing laws or common consent discriminate against persons on account of race, color, creed, sex or ethnic origin. Section 2. All City agencies and offices, including personnel under their jurisdiction, in the course of holding city meetings, are directed to abstain from the use of any facilities operated by private organizations which by their govern- ing laws or common consent have restrictions on membership on account of race, color, creed, sex or ethnic origin. This is not intended to apply to clubs or organizations which are formed for the express purpose of furthering the culture or religious traditions of a particular religion or racial or ethnic group. Section 3. This Resolution is in full force and effect after its passage as required by law. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Pasco, Washington at a regular meeting thereof, and APPROVED by the Mayor of the City this 6 day of June 1972. /�73 Donald D .
