RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE STATE OF
WASHINGTON URBAN ARTERIAL BOARD AND RE-
QUESTING FINANCIAL AID IN CONSTRUCTION
OF A NEW BRIDGE OVER THE COLUMBIA RIVER
BETWEEN THE CITIES OF PASCO, KENNEWICK,
BENTON AND FRANKLIN COUNTIES.
WHEREAS, the City of Pasco, on December 17, 1968, joined with the City
of Kennewick, Benton and Franklin Counties, for a project reconnaissance and
preliminary Engineering Study for the improvement of the existing Old Bridge
Crossing of the Columbia River between the Cities of Pasco, Kennewick, Benton
and Franklin Counties; and
WHEREAS, the study was received and accepted by the four governmental
agencies in June, 1969; and
WHEREAS, the City of Pasco has joined the City of Kennewick, Benton and
Franklin Counties in numerous meetings of joint association in an effort to pro-
vide financing of the Bridge Project; and
WHEREAS, the new Bridge as proposed, connecting the Cities of Pasco and
Kennewick is vital to the economy and development of the Tri -Cities Area and
financing of a project of this magnitude places a tremendous financial burden
upon the four agencies involved, NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON DO RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Pasco does hereby commend the
State of Washington Urban Arterial Board for their past consideration in the im-
provement of the cities' Arterial Streets and the Board's participation in financing
the Bridge Study.
Section 2. That consideration be given by the Urban Arterial Board to ap-
propriation of whatever emergent funds that may be available to assist the four
agencies in financing this new Bridge project between the Cities of Pasco and
Kennewick, Benton and Franklin Counties.
Section 3. That Ed Hendler, Pasco City Councilman and Chairman of the
Inter -City Bridge Committee, be authorized to present this resolution to the
Urban Arterial Board at their meeting of January 7th and 8th, 1970.
Section 4. This resolution shall be in full force and effect after its passage
as required by law.
PASSED by the City Council and APPROVED as provided by law this 6
day of January, 1970.
