HomeMy WebLinkAbout0781 ResolutionRESOLUTION NO.1% 7 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING RECOiHMENDATION TO ROUTE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 82 THROUGH THE TRI CITIES AREA. WHEREAS, The City of Pasco did by a previous Resolution, support the recommendation of the consulting engineers on the location of Interstate Highway 82 from Ellensburg to Prosser through Yakima Valley, and thence to Oregon through the Tri Cities and Western Walla Walla County, and WHEREAS, Efforts to secure concurrence in this route from the State of Oregon have been unsuccessful, and the Federal Highway Administration has now designated a new Interstate Spur from "a junction with FAI Route 82 in the vicinity of Prosser, easterly to a junction with U.S. 395 at Pasco and WHEREAS, The Washington State Highway Commission has stated that a new hearing is required to fully explore the benefits and consequences of this highlvay in its new designation, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City of Pasco fully supports the proposed routing of I-182, as it will be within the same corridor presented in 1967 for that portion of I-82. • Section 2.The City of Pasco urges that the Highway Department give consideration to depressing that portion of I-182 in the vicinity of the Tri -Cities Airport so that it will pass underneath any existing or pro- posed runways. Section 3. The City of Pasco feels that to be acceptable, the I-182 spur must be built to Interstate standards. Section 4. The City of Pasco strongly urges that efforts continue to route Interstate 82 in accordance with the recommendations of the engineering study of 1966, and as reflected in paragraph one above. Section 5. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect after its passage and approval as required by law. PASSED by the City Council and APPROVED this 3 day of June 1969. G.E.
