HomeMy WebLinkAbout0684 ResolutionRESOLUTION NO. 684 A RESOLUTION FINDING THAT (1) ONE OR MORE BLIGHTED AREAS EXIST IN THE CITY OF PASCO; AND (2) THAT THE REHABILITATION, CONSERVATION, REDEVELOPE- MENT, OR A COMBINATION THEREOF, OF SUCH AREAS IS NECESSARY IN THE INTEREST OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY, MORALS, OR WELFARE OF THE -RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF PASCO, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PASCO TO ITSELF EXERCISE THE POWERS CONFERRED UPON MUNICIPALITIES' BY THE WASHINGTON URBAN RENEWAL LAW. WHEREAS, the Washington Urban Renewal Law RCW 35, 81.050 provides that a municipality shall exercise urban renewal powers after its governing body adopts a resolution finding that: (1) one or more blighted areas exist in such municipality; and (2) the rehabilitation, redevelopement, or a combi— nation thereof, of such area or areas is necessary in the interest of the public health, safety, morals, or welfare of the residents of such municipality; and WHEREAS, one or more blighted areas do exist in the City of ,Pasco; and, WHEREAS, the rehabilitation, redevelopement, or a combination thereof, of such area or areas is necessary in the interest of the public health, safety, morals, or welfare of the residents of the City of Pasco; and, WHEREAS, the City of Pasco desires itself to exercise the powers conferred upon municipalities by the Washington.Urban Renewal Law, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY.COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section J: That one or more blighted area= do exist in the City of Pasco,.; described As being generally situ..ted iri. that area'-lying_east' of 'thb Northern Pacific Railroad tracks. Section 2: That the rehabilitation, redevelopement, or a combination thereof, of such area or areas is necessary in the interest of the public health, safety, morals.., or welfare of the residents of the City of Pasco. Section 3: That the City itself, pursuant to the first alternative con- tained in Chapter 35.81, Section 150 (1), Revised code of Washington, shall exercise the.urban renewal powers conferred upon municipalities by the Washington Urban Renewal Law.
