HomeMy WebLinkAbout0525 Resolutionr S i RESOLUTION NO. 7 �j A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR LONGEVITY PAY FOR CIVIL SERVICE EMPLOYEES AND REPEALING RESOLUTION NO,' 409, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Terms used in this resolution shall have the meaning given to them in this resolution: a. Base pay does not include any amounts paid for longevity, for overtime, for clothing allowances, or for any extra benefits of any kind whatsoever, b. Employee means any policeman or fireman as defined in R.'C. W. 41. 08. 050 and 41. 12, 050. c. Year, for the purpose of determining longevity pay, means full employment for at least eleven ,(11) months during a work year. Section 2. The purpose of this resolution is to induce employees of the City of Pasco to remain in such employment and to compensate employees for increased knowledge and efficiency by increasing their pay in proportion to the time they have been employed by the City of Pasco. This resolution is intended to serve as a guide for making computations of longevity pay so long and only so long as the City Council of the City of Pasco desires to continue longevity pay. Section 3. This resolution is to become effective as of January 1, 1963. Section 4. Longevity pay is to be determined as follows: a. As soon as any employee has completed five full years as an employee of the City of Pasco, he is entitled to receive longevity pay during his sixth to tenth years, inclusive of his employment. Longevity pay shall be added to the employee?,s regular salary the first of the month following the employee?s completion of the five year period and shall consist of 310 of his base salary. b. As soon as any employee has completed ten full years as an employee of the City of Pasco, he is entitled to receive longevity pay during his eleventh to fifteenth years, inclusive of his employment. Longevity pay shall be added to the employeeis regular salary the first of the month following the employeets completion of the ten-year period and shall consist of 6% of his base salary. c. As soon as any employee has completed fifteen full years as an employee of the City of Pasco, he is entitled to receive longevity pay during his sixteen to twentieth years, inclusive of his employment. Longevity pay shall be added to the employee?s regular salary the first of the month following the employeeis completion of the fifteen -year period and shall consist of 9% of his base salary. d, As soon as any employee has completed twenty full years as an employee of the City of Pasco, he is entitled to receive longevity pay during .the remainder of his employment. Longevity pay shall be added to the employeets regular salary the first of the month following the employee=s completion of the twenty»year period and shall consist of 12% of his base salary., Section 5. In the event the employee?s base salary changes during the years in which he receives longevity pay, the amount of longevity pay shall be recomputed at 3%, 6%, 9% or 12% of the new rate, depending on the number of years the employee has been employed with the City of Pasco according to the above provisions of Section 4, and shall be added to his regular salary during the month in which the change in base salary takes place. Section 6. This resolution shall vest no right in any employee covered hereunder and shall establish no fixed liability of the City of Pasco to any employee. The City Council of the City of Pasco may amend from time to time, or repeal this resolution in any manner deemed advisable- to the City Council and no right or cause of action shall accrue to any employee thereby. Section 7. Any disputes or interpretations arising under the provisions of this resolution shall be resolved by the City Council of the City of Pasco and the decision of the City Council shall be final. Section 8. Resolution No. 409 is hereby repealed. PASSED by the City Council and APPROVED by the Mayor this 18th day of December, 1962.
