HomeMy WebLinkAbout0442 ResolutionRESOLUTION N0. 442 A RESOLUTION RELATING TO THE WAGES AND HOURS OF CITY EMPLOYEES. WHEREAS, Chapter 294, Laws of 1959, known as the Washington Minimum Wage and Hour Act, has been construed by the Attorney General of the State of Washington, to apply to cities, and WHEREAS, the Council is desirous of complying with said law and with R.C.W. 35.33.120, which provides that no salary shall be increased above the amount provided therefor in the budget, and WHEREAS, the Council is desirous of maintaining the firemen's present monthly salary or basic salary for pension benefits derived under State law, NOW, THEREFORE, FOLLOWS: THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO DO ORDAIN AS Section 1. The following city employees are employed in a bona fide executive, administrative, or professional capacity as defined under Section 1 (5) (c) of the Washington Minimum Wage and Hour Act: City Clerk, City Treasurer, City Attorney, City Engineer, Police Judge, Field Engineer, Building Inspector, City Planner, Fire Chief, Police Chief, Captain (Police Department), Street Superintendent, Cemetery Superintendent, Park Super- intendent, Librarian, Airport Manager, Foreman (Water Department), idater and Sewer Superintendent, Chief Operator of the Sewer Plant, and Superin- tendent of Maintenance at the Airport. Section 2. -All firemen, with the exception of the Fire Chief, shall be employed on a 24 -}your "On" and a 48-hour "Off" work schedule. Sectinn 3. All policemen shall be employed 48 hours per week. Section 4. The "regular rate" of pay for firemen and policemen as defined in the Washington Minimum Wage and Hour Act shall be computed as follows: it i it Annual wage, including longevity pay, divided by the number of hours on overtime, multiplied by 1-1j2, plus the number of hours on regular time. Hourly rate shall be computed downward to the next cent when fractions of a cent are involved. Section 5. All other city employees are presently working a 40 -hour week. Their "regular rate" of pay shall be computed by dividing their annual salary by the number of hours worked each year. Section 6. No fireman or policeman shall receive any less compensation under the terms of this Resolution than is presently being received under the 1959 Budget, and other Ordinances and Resolutions of the City of Pasco. Section 7. The present monthly salary or basic salary for firemen shall remain the same for firemen's pension benefits derived under State law. Section 8. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect as of June 11, 1959• PASSED by the City Council and APPROVED by the Mayor this day of June, 1959.
