HomeMy WebLinkAbout0366 ResolutionRESOLUTION NO. /> lj RESOLUTION DEFINING POLICY WITH RESPECT TO THE PERMANENT IMPROVEMENT OF CITY STREETS AND CITY CONTRIBUTIONS IN AID THEREOF. WHEREAS the future growth and. development of the City of Pasco will be promoted by the improvement of its residential, arterial and business thoroughfares with permanent paving; and WHEREAS the City Council believes the time has arrived to establish a definite policy with respect to the improvement of said street hand WHEREAS special benefits will accrue to property owners abutting on said streets when improved which- should be assessed to them in accordance with the Local Improvement Law of the State of Washington; and WHEREAS general benefits- will also accrue to the City of Pasco by such improvements-; and WHEREAS it is fitting and proper that the City provide in aid of such improvements money from the City Street Fund to the- extent of this general benefit, and in the manner hereinafter pro- vided; NOW THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE, CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO AS FOLLOWS: From and. after the date of adoption of this resolution, all moneys -received from the Motor Vehicle Fund of the Stateshall be placed in the City Street Fund as required by law, and shall be appropriated and used by the City solely in aid of Local Improvement ,Districts which may be created to pave and otherwise improve the streets of the City, or for such other proper, permanent non -_L. I. D. street improvements which the City Council may authorize by ordinance. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the. City will contribute from the City Street Fund in- aid of any Local Improvement District which may hereafter be created for permanent paving of residential streets, 200/0 per cent of the cost of the first 36 feet of width of street paving; for the improvement of arterial thoroughfares in residential districts, the City will contribute 20% percent of paving costs for the first 36 feet, and in addition will contribute the entire cost of the paving.in excessof the width of 36 feet; for business. streets- and arterial thoroughfares in other than residential districts, the City will contribute a percent of the cost of the paving to be- determined by the City Council. 1955- 1955.
