RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON
WHEREAS, the City of Kennewick has heretofore been granted
the sum of $40p000*OO by the Federal Works Agency of the United
States of America to aid in the construction of a 30 -inch intercept-
ing sewer running from the intersection of Washington Street and
"B" Avenue to a point in the Columbia River below the Northern
Pacific Railroad bridge, which 30 -inch intercepting sewer will be
sufficient to carry the sewage from the City of Kennewick so that tY
inhabitants of the City of Pasco will not be endangered by the
presence of said sewage in the Columbia River, and
WHEREAS, the existing sewer line of the City of Kennewicf,
which has an outfall a short distance upstream from the Northern
Pacific Railroad bridge, is in such a condition that it cannot, at
the present time, carry but a small portion of the sewage of the
City of Kennewick, and therefore it is necessary that a temporary
outfall be used in the Columbia River located at the foot of Wash-
ington Street immediately north of the City of Kennewick and
directly south of the City of Pasco, and due to the presence of a
large island in the river, this sewage is dropped in a backwater or
lagoon and there remains so as to be a serious menace not only to
the inhabitants of the City of Kennewick but also to the inhabitants
of the City of Pasco, Washington, which health menace has been
recognized by medical officers of this area, and
WHEREAS, the City of Kennewick will be unable to raise the
cessary funds to construct the said 30 -inch intercepting sewer

gency is continued, because of the heavy expenses the said City has
een put to due to the large population recently moving into the
ity of Kennewick* and the abandonment of the said sewer project may
esult in ill health and sickness among the people of both Kennewick
Pasco, Washington#
NOWs THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIM

OF PASCO, WASHINGTONp that because of the importance of the said
30 -inch intercepting sewer line and the extreme need of the con-
struction thereof because of the present health menace to the resi-
dents of the City of Pasco, as well as of the City of Kennewick, the
Bureau of Community Facilities of the Federal Works Agency is re-
quested and petitioned to continue the said grant of $400000.00 to
the City of Kennewick, Washington, for the construction of F.W.A.
Project No. 45-311-S. the project including the above 30 -inch inter-
cepting sewer.
UPON MOTION duly made, ,seconded, and carried, the foregoing
resolution was declared adopted, all members present voting "Aye."
