HomeMy WebLinkAbout0248 ResolutionA-.#& RESOLUTION NO. 24 WHEREAS, an emergency exists owing to market conditions brought on by the now existing war and it is impossible for persons erecting new houses to comply with the regulations of the ordinance requiring the use of cast iron pipe in installing sewer connections, AND WHEREAS, under present conditions, owing to the emergency above.set forth cast iron pipe can not be obtained for sewer connections and a number of new houses are awaiting sewer connections; and WHEREAS, there is a serious shortage of houses in the city of Pasco; and it is to the benefit of the public that said new houses be connected with the sewer at the earliest possible moment; NOW THEREFORE: Be it .resolved that an emergency does exist in the City of Pasco and it is to the benefit and advantage of the public that other than cast iron pipe be allowed in installing sewer connections during the existing emergency and that during such emergency the fol- lowing kinds of pipe may be substituted for cast iron pipe, to -wit: Fibre pipe with tapered joints; joints to be cemented with manufactures cement for that purpose and driven together. Trench to be filled with fine dirt by hand to one foot above pipe and settled with water before power backfilling can be used. This is permissible to be used until cast iron is available: That the above set forth substitution be allowed only until such time as cast iron pipe may be obtained and that as soon as such cast iron pipe is obtainable this resolution be terminated and of no .further effect. Passed by the Council this 9 day of August, 1945.
