'Whereas the City of Pasco, 7zshington desires to create a
living memorial for the men and women of this community who have served
their country in the armed forces during the present global conflict,
and,
Ihereas, the providing of adequate facilities for whole-
some recreation is one of the greatest services a community can render
its young manhood and womanhood!
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pasco
assembled in regular meeting this sixth day of March, 1945, that the
City accept the following described property all in Helm's Second
Addition to the City of Pasco, as a gift from Franklin County Post
No. 34 of the American Legiont
All of Block 13
Lots 1 to 8 and 25 to 30 in Block 14
All of Block 15
Lots 1 to 16 and 24 to 32 in Block 16
And, any additional lots in Blocks 14 and 16 which
may be donated to the City by the American Legion
or any other group or individual
That, the City Council take such steps as may be expedient
and/or necessary to acquire title to the property in Blocks 14 and 16
which may still be in private ownership without delay; _
That the area be set aside and dedicated as a Veterans'
Memorial Park in memory of those who have served in the armed forces
of the United States of America during the present world war and that
it be developed from time to time as a play and recreation area for
the citizens of Pasco and vicinity;
That Franklin County Post No. 34 of the American Legion
be allowed to build or erect some type of monument to show the names
of those who served in the armed forces during this war and also
those vbo may serve in future mars, said monument to meet with the
app3lotal of the City Council, and
That development of the Memorial Park be started at once
by landscaping and that a swimming pool be built as the first unit of
development as quickly as conditions will permit, and
Finally that the City accept other donations of money or
materials from organizations or individuals made from time to time for
further improvement and development of the aforesaid park*
