HomeMy WebLinkAbout2053 OrdinanceORDINANCE NO. 2053 AN ORDINANCE relating to personnel; accrual of sick leave; payment in lieu of vacation and sick leave; and' written notice of" resignation. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That Section 2.42.220 of the Pasco Municipal Code (Ordinance No. 1458, E3, 1971) be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: P.M.C. 2.42.220 VACATION BENEFITS AND SICK LEAVE - PAYMENT IN LIEU THEREOF. An employee who is discharged or leaves the city employ for any reason shall receive all accrued vacation pay unless such separation is made during his or her entrance probationary period or is not in compliance with P.M.C.: 2.42.280. An employee at the time of leaving the employment of the city, except for any such employee who is terminated for just cause or who is not in compliance with P.M.C. 2.42.280, shall have twenty-five percent of his or her accumulated and unused sick leave up to an aggregate credit of ninety (90) days converted to and be added to any other accrued vacation time for payment as provided herein. This section shall not apply to an employee who is a member of a collective bargaining, unit having an agreement with the city. This subject shall be determined exclusively by the terms. of the'contract. Section 2. That Section 2:42.280 of the Pasco Municipal Code (Ordinance No. 1306, S42, 1968) be and the same is hereby amended. to read as follows: P.M.C. 2.42.280 SEVERANCE NOTICE. Any full-time employee shall give at least two weeks written notice of severance or termination of employment to the City Manager or department head. Lack of such notice shall be sufficient grounds for the City Manager to forfeit the employee's accrued or accumulated vacation benefits and sick leave earned. Section 3. That Section 2.42.310 of the Pasco Municipal Code (Ordinance No. 1458, t85, 1971) be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: P.M.C. 2.42.310 ACCRUAL OF SICK LEAVE. Sick leave shall accrue at the rate of one day for each month for each regular employee to a maximum accumulated sick leave of one hundred twenty (120) days; however, the severance benefit provided in Section 1 shall be based on the product of twenty-five percent (25%) times the accrued number of sick leave days up to a total. of ninety (90) days. This section shall not apply to an employee who is a member of a collective bargaining unit having an agreement with the city. This subject shall be determined exclusively by the terms of the contract. -2 - Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect after its passage and publication as required by law.
