AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO AND REGULAT-
ING THE BUSINESS OF PLUMBING; PROVID -
ING REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS FOR THE
INSTALLATION OF PLUMBING IN CONNECTION
WITH ANY BUILDING IN THE CITY OF PASCO;
PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS FOR
WORK TO BE DONE AND THE FEE TO BE CHARGED
THEREFOR; PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE
VIOLATION THEREOF; AND REPEALING ORDINANCE
NO. 1507 AND PASCO MUNICIPAL CODE 16.08
AS THEY NOW EXIST AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCES
OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERE-
WITH.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1, The Uniform Plumbing Code, with Appendix, 1973 Edition, prepared by
the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, and as here-
after amended or revised, is hereby adopted by the City of Pasco, and all plumb-
ing hereafter installed, altered, repaired, added to, used or maintained shall be done
in conformity with the provisions of said Uniform Plumbing Code, except as expressly
provided herein.
Section 2. Three (3) copies of the Uniform Plumbing Code, with Appendix, 1973
Editibn, have been filed for use and examination by the public in the office of the
City Clerk prior to the adoption of this ordinance.
Section 3. Chapters 1, 2 and 3, which make up Part 1 - Administrative, of the Uni-
form Mechanical Code, as adopted and amended by Ordinance No.
1644
shall be used for the Administration of the Uniform Plumbing Code; EXCEPT, Section
304 shall be amended to read as follows:
"PERMIT FEES - Any person desiring a permit required by this Code,
shall, at -the time of filing an application therefor, pay a fee as re-
quired in Section 303 (a) of the Uniform Building Code, 1973 Edition."

Section 4_ Chapter 2, Table A - PLUMBING MATERIAL STANDARDS, of the Uni-
form Plumbing Code shall be amended by the following deletions:
DELETIONS:
NON-METALLIC PIPING
Homogenous bituminized fiber drain and sewer pipe, with
standards and footnotes.
Section 5. Chapter 4, Table 4-1, of the Uniform Plumbing Code shall be amended
by 'the following additions:
Food Waste Disposal (Residential) 211 trap 2 units
Food Waste Disposal (Commercial) 3" trap 6 units .
Section 6. Section 909 (d) of the Uniform Plumbing Code shall be amended to
read as follows:
"No shower stall or receptor shall have a finished interior
dimension which is less than thirty-two (32) inches, and
each shower compartment shall be of a finished size cap -
able of completely encompassing a thirty-two (32) inch
circle when the door or curtain is closed. No shower com-
partment shall have a horizontal cross sectional area of less
than one thousand twenty-four (1, 024) square inches."
Section 7. Section 910 of the Uniform Plumbing Code shall be amended to read
as follows:
"PLUMBING FIXTURES REQUIRED - Each building shall be
provided with sanitary facilities as prescribed by the local
or state department having jurisdiction. In the absence of
local requirements a recommended list of minimum facilities
for various occupancies is given in Appendix C of this code.
Every basement shall be provided with at least one (1) floor
drain, located either in the utility room, bathroom or fur-
nace room. "
Section 8. Section 1212 (a) of the Uniform Plumbing Code shall be amended to
read as follows:
"All pipe used for the installation, extension, alteration,
or repair of any gas piping shall be standard weight wrought
iron or black steel, yellow brass (containing not more than
seventy-five (75) per cent copper), or internally tinned or
equivalently treated copper of iron pipe size. "

Section 9. Ordinance No. 1507 and Pasco Municipal Code 16.08, as they now
appear, are hereby repealed, as well as all other ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith.
Section 10. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect after its passage and
publication as required by law.
PASSED by the City Council and APPROVED by the Mayor this 7 day of
May 1974.
