HomeMy WebLinkAbout1330 OrdinanceA 41 ORDINANCE NO. 1330 .00 - AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE UTILITY TAXES CHARGED AGAINST THE MATER AND SEWER UTILITY OF THE CITY OF PASCO, AND AMENDING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 1072, AND PASCO CITY CODE 3-16.08 BY ADDING SUBSECTION (f). WHEREAS, it is deemed in the best interests of the City of Pasco to be charged to the Water and Sewer System of the City, an additional tax for the year 1968, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section i of Ordinance No. 1072, and Pasco City Code 3-16.08 are hereby amended by adding subsection (f) to read as follows: "Section 1. Occu ations subject to tax --Rate. There is hereby levied and sha be collected annual license fees or occupation taxes against the persons on account of the business activities, and in the amounts to be determined by the application of the rates against gross income, as follows: (a) Upon every person engaged in or carrying on the business of selling or furnishing electric power, a fee or tax equal to four per cent of the total gross income from such business in the City during his fiscal year next preceding the tax year for which the license is required, provided, however, that the minimum fee or tax shall not be less than three hundred and sixty dollars per tax year. (b) Upon every person engaged in or carrying on a telephone business, a fee or tax equal to four per cent of the total gross income from such business in the City during his fiscal year next preceding the tax year for which the license is required; provided, that the minimum fee or tax shall not be less than three hundred and sixty dollars per tax year. (c) Upon every person, including the City of Pasco, engaged in carrying on the business of selling or furnishing water and/or sewer services, a fee or tax equal to four per cent of the total gross income from such business in the City during his fiscal year next preceding the tax year for which the license is required; provided, however, that the minimum fee or tax shall not be less than three hundred and sixty dollars per tax year; provided further, that the tax imposed upon the water and sewer systems of the City of Pasco shall be applicable to the business both within and without the City. (d) Upon every person engaged in or carrying on the business of transmitting television by cable, a fee or tax equal to four per cent of the total gross income from such business in the City during his fiscal year next preceding the tax year for which the license is required; provided, however, that the minimum fee or tax shall not be less than three hundred and sixty dollars per tax year. (e) Upon every person engaged in or carrying on the business of selling or furnishing natural gas, a fee or tax equal to four per cent of the total gross income from such business in the City during his fiscal year next preceding the tax year for which the license is required; provided, however, that the minimum fee or tax shall not be less than three hundred and sixty dollars per tax year. (f) Upon every person, including the City of Pasco, engaged in the carrying on of the business of selling or furnishing water and/or sewer services, a fee or tax equal to 10% of the total gross income from such business in the City during the 1968 fiscal year; provided, however, that this 10% tax shall be in addition to the 4% normally charged in the Tax Year, as pro- vided in Section (c) above; provided, further, that the tax imposed upon the Water and Sewer Systems of the City of Pasco shall be applicable to the business both within and out of the Ci ty." Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage and pu ication in the official newspaper of the City of Pasco as required by law.
