The City,.Council is requesting that the Highway Com,mission initiate,,a program.to im- prove Lewis .Street and North Fourth -Avenue here in the '.City to bring these two streets up to arterial standard. The Council, in making this request; wishes to emphasize that these streets have been used as, highways for a long ;period of tice and without any major improve- ments on -them. The Council also wishes to advise the Highway Commission that these improvements are needed because they relate to the City's cont!ew?lated arterial street improvement program. During the month of December, the City Council anticipates awarding contracts for4approxi- nately,,$1,000,,000,00 worth of arterial street construction. This is a significant piece of work on the part of the City and the streets$ as requested by the Council for the Highway Commission to improve,, are directly related to the arterial street prorram. The City Council further requests the improvement of the streets at this time by the Highway Commission because with the completion of the Bypass Highway around the City of Pasco.
