HomeMy WebLinkAbout1097 OrdinanceY A ORDINANCE NO. 1097, rr� AN ORDINANCE GRANTING PAID LEAVE TO THE FULL TIME EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF PASCO FOR DEATH OF AN EMPLOYEE'S RELATIVE, DEFINING THE RELATIVES WHOSE DEATH ENTITLES AN EMPLOYEE TO BREAVEMENT ;1 LEAVE, AND GRANTING PAID LEAVE TO A FULL TIME EMPLOYEE OF THE CITY OF PASCO FOR COMPULSORY COURT ATTENDANCE IN AN ACTION TO WHICH THE FULL TIME EMPLOYEE IS NOT A PARTY. p� c5 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. For purposes of administration of this ordinance, a full time employee shall mean any employee hired to work a minimum of 100 hours per month in not less than 10 months of the employement year. Section 2. For purposes of administering this ordinance, the immediate family shall include the husband, wife, natural born children, adopted children, foster children, step children, mother, father, step mother, step father, foster mother, foster father, grandmother, grandfather, brothers and sisters. Section 3. Bereavement leave of three days with pay shall be given to any full time employee in the event of the death of a member of his or her immediate family. Section 4. Bereavement leave of one day with pay shall be given to any full time employee in the event of the death of one of the following relatives: brother- in-law, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law and grandchildren. Section 5. The City will grant paid leave to any full time .emplo-p e for time lost due to compulsory court attendance resulting from jury service or in obedience to a subpoena to serve as a witness in an action to which he is not a party. Section 6. In order to be granted paid leave, the full time employee must: a) Show the subpoena or notification of jury service to his or her depart- ment head within a reasonable time after received. b) Obtain a release from the court certifying his or her attendance in court and the days there spent. Section 7. Court releases must be returned to the full time employee's department head for proper recording of compulsory court attendance time on the employee's personal time record. Section 8. Any money received by a full time employee while attending court shall be credited against his regular pay. Section 9. This ordinance to be in full force and effect after its passage and publication as required by law.
