HomeMy WebLinkAbout1064 OrdinanceORDINANCE NO. 10(1 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE USE OF FIRE APPARATUS, AND PERSONNEL OPERATI;NG THE SAME, BEYOND THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PASCO- AND PRESCRIBING CONDITIONS THEREOF,) WHEREAS, in R )C;`W,` 35, 84. 040 every municipal corporation which owns and operates fire apparatus and equipment may permit under conditions prescribed by the governing body thereof such equipment and personnel operating the same to go outside of the corporate limits of such minicipality and that such use shall be deemed an exercise of a governmental function thereof, and WHEREAS, there is in existance an organization known as the Central Washington Firemerit,s Association formed for the purpose of providing for the use of fire apparatus and personnel outside of the boundaries of the subscribing fire departments for emergency conflagrations, and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is necessary to prescribe certain conditions for said use of the fire apparatus and equipment of the City of Pasco and its personnel and to authorize the mode of using such equipment, now, therefore, FOLLOWS: THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASC0 DO, ORDAIN AS Section 1, That the Mayor of the City of Pasco, acting by and through the Chief of the Fire Department, is hereby authorized to dispatch and use the fire apparatus and equipment of the City of Pasco, together with ` the Fig-- Department personnel operating the same, outside of the corporate limits of the City of Pasco for the purpose of rendering assistance to neighboring communities and areas in the event of a threatening conflagration or other dire emergency. Under no circumstances shall such fire apparatus and equipment be dispatched outside of the City of Pasco to such an extent as to deplete existing available equipment or leave the City of Pasco without adequate fire protection. Section 2. The Mayor and the City Clerk of the City of Pasco are hereby authorized and directed to execute on the behalf of the City of Pasco such mutual aid agreements with adjoining communities or areas maintaining and operating fire apparatus and equipment or with the Central Washington Firemenls Association as may be necessary or desirable to effectuate the orderly dispatch of the City of Pasco fire apparatus and equipment outside of the City and the reciprocal dispatching of other apparatus and equipment into the City. Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect after its passage and publication as provided by law. PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, signed and approved this 7/ day of October, 1962.
