AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT THE OFFICES OF CITY CLERK
AND. CITY ATTORNEY SHALL BE APPOINTIVE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THEA CITY OF PASCO DO RESOLVE AS .FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Pursuant to the provisions. of R.'C.'W, 35. 24. 020, and 35. 24. 050,
the offices of City. Clerk and City Attorney be and the. same hereby are
declared to be appointive rather than elective_ positions.
Section 2. The appointments of the. City Clerk and the. City Attorney shall
be by the Mayor subject to confirmation by a majority vote of the City
Council. The appointments. must be in writing signed by the Mayor and filed
with the City Clerk.
Section. 3. The .Qity. Clerk and -City Attorney shall not be appointed .for a
definite. term
Section 4. The 'incumbent City -Clerk and, City Attorney shall continue to
serve for the -remainder of their unexpired terms.
Section 5. The salaries of the. City Clerk and City. Attorney shall be as
set forth in -Ordinance No. 981 and Pasco City Code 1..20. 04, or as changed
by the. City Council from time to time.,
Section .6. Any ordinances. or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
Section. 7. This ordinance- shall be in full. force and effect after its passage.
and publication as required by law.

In conformance with the provisions of R.C.W.
35.24.210, 1 am hereby returning Ordinance No.
1039 to the City Council and am putting my Veto
thereon.
am doing so because I object to the Ordinance
for the following reason:
This Ordinance provides "That the Offices of
City Clerk and City Attorney shall be Appointive".
I sincerely believe that the citizens of a City
should have the right to select the officers to
serve them at an election held for that purpose.
