HomeMy WebLinkAbout0695 OrdinanceA, _4 ORDINANCE NO. 695 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 178 RELATING TO AND PROVIDING FOR A LICENSE OR OCCUPATION TAX UPON CERTAIN BUSINESSES, OCCUPATIONS, PURSUITS AND PRIVILEGES, DEFINING OFFENSES AND PROVIDING PENALTIES THEREFOR BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That from and after the effective date of this Ordinance, Section 5 of Ordinance No. 178 shall read as follows: SECTION 5• OCCUPATIONS SUBJECT TO TAX - AMOUNT: There is hereby levied and shall be collected annual license fees or occupation taxes against the persons on account of the business activ- ities, and in the amounts to be determined by the application of the rates against gross income, as follows: (a) - Upon every person engaged in or carrying on the business of selling or furnishing electric light and power, a fee or tax equal to three (3) percent of tha total gross income from such business in the City during his fiscal year next preceding the tax year for which lic- ense is required; Provided, however, that the minimum.fee or tax shall not be less than Three Hundred and Sixty ($360.00) Dollars per tax year. (b) Upon every person engaged in or carrying on a telephone bus- iness, a fee or tax equal to three (3) per cent of'the total gross income from such business in the City during his fiscal year next preceding the tax year for which the license is required; Provided, however,, that the minimum fee or tax shall not be less than Three Hundred and Sixty'(it360.00) Dollars per tax year*� (s) Upon every person engaged in or carrying on the business of, selling or furnishing water, a fee or tax equal to three (3) per cent of the total ;dross income from such business in the City during his fiscal year next'preceding the tax year for which the license is required; Provided however, that the minimum fee or tax shall not be less than 2 Three Hundred and Sixty ($360.00) Dollars per tax year. SECTION 2, This Ordinance is to be in full force and effect five (5) days after its passage and publication. PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL THIS ;% L/ DAY OF OCTOBER, 1952.
