HomeMy WebLinkAbout0590 OrdinanceORDINANCE NO. ~ AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING -FOR THE SALE AND DISPOSAL OF RECOVERED PERSONAL PROPERTY AND OTHER PERSONAL PROPERTY HELD BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF. THE CITY OF PASCO, AND PROVIDING FOR THE DISPOSITION of THE MONEYS RECEIVED THEREFROM. The City Council of the City.of.Pasco do ordain as follows: SECTION 1: When any -personal property has come into the,hands.of the police department of t he.City°of casco for safekeeping or storage by reason of recovery of stolen property, bei ng.left for storage or other- wise and has remained in the possession, of the department for a period of one year or more without having been claimed, the same.shall be. dis- posed of by'the said Police Department as hereinafter set forth. SECTION.2 When any property as set forth in section 1, of this ordinance has come into the hands of the Police Department oft he City of.Pasco, and has remained.in the possession of said Department fora period of one year or more without having been claimed, the same shall'be sold by.and under the direction of the Chief of Police'at public auction, to the highest bidder for cash, in such"lots or parcels as in the judgment of the Chief of Police will- bring the most money, sand the proceeds or money.received for said property shall be by the.Chief of Police immediately deposited with. the City Treasurer :to the credit ,%of the gene-ral''fundof the City. - r SECTION 3: Before any sale is`made'as provided in this ordinance, notice of such sale must be given by publishing in a newspaper of general circulation in the. City, for at .least two consecutive issues, a notice of such sale. Said notice shall not be required to describe each article separately, and it shall be sufficient notice if.such notice sets forth that such personal property has been in the possession of the Police Department of the City of Pasco, for more than one year without having been claimed. SECTION 4: Upon the sale of apy article or articles as above set forth, a receipt shall be given the purchaser, describing the property sold and
