AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO VACATIONS, SICK LLAVE, AND M. E OFF
FOR CITY EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF P_4SCO.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION ONE: Vacations. (a) Every employee of the City of
Pasco after raving served the City for a period of six (6 )
consecutive months shall be entitled to a vacation allowance
with full pay of one day per month served. Such vacation shall
be at such time or times as may be directed by the head of the
department with which the employee is employed, or in the case
of employees of the Police Department, by the Civil Service
Commission, and if the Fire Department shall -in the future come
within Civil Servic.e, then in that instance, by the Civil Ser-
vice Commission. Every such employee. who has not served six
(6) consecutive months because of illness or military service,
shall nevertheless be- entitled to the vacation provided in this
section, after having served six (6) months, even though said
months are not served consecutively.
(b) Said allowed vacation shall be accumulated, but
in no event shall exceed twenty-four (24) working days.
(c) Said allowed vacation may at the option of the
employee be added to the sick leave hereinafter provided for,
but in no event shall sick leave be added to vacation time.
SECTION TWO: Sick Leave. Every employee of the City of Pasco
who is unable to perform his duties by reason of illness shall
be entitled after six (6) months service to accumulative sick
leave with pay at the rate of one day per month. The total
accumulation of sick leave shall not exceed ninety (90) work
days at full pay.
(b) An initial accumulation of sick leave shall be
granted to the present employees of the City of Pasco at the
rate of three (3) days per year for each year of prior service.
The maximum of such initial accumulation shall be ninety (90 )
work days.
SECTION THREE: .Sick leave pay and vacation pay as provided in
this Ordinance shall be exclusive of any disability benefits
received by the employee by virtue of any law or. ordinance now
or hereafter enacted.
SECTION FOUR: Che nge in position or transfer to another city
department shall not effect the accumulation of sick: leave or
vacation allowance. A regular employee reinstated to the sane
or another department after having been laid off shall be credited
with all unused sick leave and vacation `allowance accumula ted
prior to layoff.
SECTION F17IE: The granting of sick leave and vacation allowance
shall be within the discretion of each department head, provided,
however, that the employee shall have the right to appeal to the
City Council in the event of a denial. Each department head
shall make such reperts and keep such records as the City Council
shall require.
