AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING TIM OPENING, OFERATIONs AND MIAINTAINANCE
OF GRAVEL PITS, BORROW PITS, SANTO PITS, STONE IIMB, AT\?D STONE €QUARRIES
WITHIN THE CITY OF PAS CO EXCEPT UPON PM471IT OF TIM CITY COUNCIL.

SECT I ONS' 1:

From and after the effective date of this ordinance, no person,
4
firm, or corporation shall open or continue to operate any gravel pit,
5
borrow pit, sand pit, stone mill, or stone quarry within the City of
6
Pasco except upon a permit granted by the City Council.
SECTION, 2:

Any application for a permit under this ordinance shall be
9
submitted to the City Council in vrriting setting forth in detail the
10
-reasons vvhy said application should be granted.
11 SECTION 3:
12 In considering said application the City Council.shall consider
13 the location in which said pit or quarry is to be opened or operated,
14 the zoning ordinances of the City of Pasco, the depth to which said pit
15 is to be dug, and the nature of the surrounding terrain. The City Coun-
16 cil shall also require a bond in the event said application is granted
17 in any amount and with surety satisfactory to the Council conditioned
18 upon the applicant's not digging below the level permitted by the City
19 Council.
20 SECTION 4:
21 Any person, firm, or corporation found guilty of a violation
22 of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $300.00
23 or by imprisonment in the City jail for a term not exceeding 30 days,
24 or both.
25 SECTION 5:
26 This ordinance shall become effective five days after its
27 passage, approval, and publication.
