HomeMy WebLinkAbout0458 Ordinanceh ORDINANCE N0. ,458 AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE VOLUNTEER FIRF:-ISN' S RELIEF AND C01iPENSATIOI ND, PROVIDING THAT THE CITY OF PASCO CONFORM WITH THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 121 OF TIM LAWS OF 1935 8F THE STATE OF WASHINGTON, AS AIVIENDED BY CHAPTER 49 OF THE LkIS OF 1939, AND CREATING A BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO BE KNOWN AS "TIDE PASCO BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VOLUNTEER FIREIcIEN' S RELIEF AND COLD:IENSATI ON FUND", AND REPEALING ORDIN- AICE NO. 452. The City Council of the City of Pasco, Washington does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. That the City of Pasco now elects to conform with all the provisions of an act of the Legislature of the State of Wash- ington approved by the Governor on March 20, 1935, being Chapter 121 of the Session Latins of 1935, as the same is amended by Chapter 49 of the Session Laws of 1939, the same being "An act relating to and creating a fund in the State Treasury to be knovm as the Volunteer Firemen's Relief and Compensation Fund; designating the duties of certain officials; providing for relief and compensation for volunteer firemen; creating a Board of Trustees in each municipality for the maintenance and distribution of said fund; empowering municipalities to limit the membership of said volunteer fire departments and requiring medical and physical examinations for members of said fire department" in order that the City of Pasco and the members of the regularly organized volunteer fire department maintained therein may participate in the benefits prescribed in said act. SECTION 2. That the membership of t�ie r=egularly organized volunteer fire department of the City of Pasco be and the same is hereby limited to twenty (20) firemen for each one thousand (1000) population of said city. SECTION 3. That pursuant to the provisions of the act referred to in Section 1 of this ordinance, there is hereby created and estab;ished a Board of Trustees of the Volunteer Firemen's Relief and Compensation Fund to be knovra as "The Pasco Board of Trustbes of the Volunteer Firemen's Relief and Compensation Fund"; that such 7 board shall consist of the Mayor, City Clerk and one councilman of the City of Pasco, to be chosen by the City Council, the Chief of the .sire Department and one member of said fixe department, which one member shall be elected by the members of said fire department for a term of one (1) year and annually thereafter. SECTION 4. The Board of Trustees hereby created shall have all of the powers and perform all the duties conferred and imposed upon it by the provisions of the act referred to in Section 1 of this ordinance and said act is by reference incorporated herein and made a part hereof. SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect five days after its passage, approval and publication. SECTION 6. Ordinance No. 452 is hereby repealed.
