HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-17-1959 MinutesPASCO, WASHINGTON REGULAR MEETING COUNCIL CHAMBERS NOVEMBER 17, 1959 CALL TO ORDER: Meeting called to order at 8:00 P. M., by Honorable Mayor Raymond Hicks. ROLL CALL: By Clerk.. Councilmen present were C. •R. Combs, G. A. Grant, H. C. James, Ed Thompson, T. R. VanHoy and David Zier. Also present were City Attorney Richard G. Patrick and City Supervisor George R. Fisher. APPROVING OF THE MINUTES: Minutes of meeting held November 3, 1959. Motion made by VanHoy, seconded by Thompson approving the minutes. Motion carried. COMMUNICATIONS: WATER SERVICE EXTENSION - L. R. BUTCHER: A letter was read fromL"Water Superintendent C. R. Whetsler stating that Mr. Butcher requests water service to serve Lots 7, 81 9, 10 and 11, Church's 2nd Addition. He would like a water line tolthe south property line of -Lot 7 and he will then pay $4.00 per running foot to serve Lots 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11; he intends to make 62�' lots of the 50' lots and build four houses. Motion made by Zier, seconded by VanHoy authorizing extension as requested. Motion carried. AIRPORT REFUND FOR JESSE HICKOX: Airport Manager H. W. Parkinson recommends that Mr. Jesse Hickox be released from his lease agreement on Building No. 139 and refunded $50.00 rent paid in advance. Motion made by VanHoy seconded by Thompson authorizing the City Treasurer to refund $50.00 to Jesse Hickox as recommended by the Airport Manager. Motion carried by roll call vote of six (6). LIBRARY BOND ISSUE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEETING: A letter was read from F. K. Kind for the Chamber Board of�Directors inviting the Mayor and Library Committee to take part in the program at the membership forum luncheon on Monday, December 7, 1959. Motion carried. CITY CLERK'S REPORT: Monthly budget report for the month of October was furnished each member covering all departments. REGULAR ORDER OF BUSINESS SET ASIDE BY UNANIMOUS CONSENT. REFUSE, LIMBS & GARBAGE: Fire Chief, Lyle Cooney reports that a collection of garbage, refuse and tree limbs and roots have been deposited on the Northern Pacific property east side of First between Nixon and Yakima. Condition is well out of hand from the burning stand point and is fast becoming a dump for old car bodies, tin cans as well as the material before mentioned. The Council agrees that this should be investigated. The Street Department has piled some tree trimming there and the need of -some place to dump and dispose of the trimmings is recognized. Grant suggested that the Police Department post "No dumping" signs and that the City remove the present accumul- ation . Following more discussion motion was made by Grant, seconded by VanHoy that the City clean up this property and post "No dumping " signs. Police to check periodically for violators. Motion carried. Motion made by VanHoy that a committee be appointed to locate a place for the City to dump tree limbs. Motion died for want of a second. E 2865 PASCO, WASHINGTON REGULAR MEETING COUNCIL CHAMBERS NOVEMBER 17, 1959 BUSINESS"LICENSE ORDINANCE ( PROPOSED): Ed Hendler wished to know what was being done about the proposed ordinance. He was advised by the Mayor that nothing had been done yet and that the Chamber of Commerce would be invited to sit in on the meeting. ADJOURNMENT: Motion made by Combs, seconded' -)by Zier to adjourn to next regular meeting, Tuesday, 8:00 P. M., December 1, 1959. Motion carried.
