COMMUNICATIONS:
CONSTRICTION OFFICE FOR VISTA CONSTRUCTION INC:
A letter was read from the Vista Construction Inc, Spokane, Washington, requesting
permission to place construction office over existing sidewalk between 4th and 5th
on Clark Street while erecting the new Yakima Federal"Savings & Loan Building.
They also state that parking meters are to be removed. Motion made by Milne, sec-
onded by Combs that requests be granted. Motion carried.
AIRPORT LIGHTING PROJECT NO. 9-45-060-701:
A letter was read from Charles W. Drew requesting that the City Attorney submit
evidence of title supplemental to that contained in paragraph 3 of part 2, project
application in quadruplicate. Motion m',de by VanHoy, seconded by Milne to turn
this to the City Attorney. Motion carried.
SPEED LIMIT, PRIMARY STATE HIGHWAY NO. 3:
A letter was read from State Highway Commission stating that the 35 mile per hour
speed limit from West City limits to 12th Street was approved.

Richland City Council requesting to purchase one of
y deposited $25.00 to take one out. Motion made by
authorizing the `�'ayor to answer letter and -state that
r loan for a six month period with present deposit on
DIRECTIONAL SIGN ON WEST LEWIS:
A letter was read from The Retail Merchants Association requesting ,permission to
install a sign on 10th Street approximately 1001 south of Lewis, directing traffic
to down town business district. Motion made by Milne, seconded by Combs that the
City Engineer be instructed to design and install sign with arrow indicating.the
direction o,f business district on 10th Street west of Lewis as requested. Motion
carried.
RECONDITION FILTER PLANT MOTORS:
A letter was read from City Engineer George R. Fisher recommending that the large
electric pump motors be cleaned and reconditioned; letter attached from General
Electric with prices on steam cleaning, etc. Motion made by Milne, seconded by
Zier authorizing the City Engineer to have work done as requested. Motion carried.
PURCHASE BY OPTION OF ROBINSON & LAPE PROPERTY: ,
A letter was read from George R. Fisher recommending that option be exercised for
purchase. Motion made by Milne, seconded by Combs that the Mayor be authorized tosend
out proper notices to exercise option to purchase the real estate owned by E, L.
Roberson & Annie E. Roberson, his wife and E. G. Lape & Ellen Lape, his wife, to
be used for expanding city facilities. Motion carried.
ADDITION TO FILTER PLANT:
City Engineer also asks authority be given for preparations of plans and specific-
ations for additional Filter Plant capacity and construction of trunk main from
Lucas along Olive to Chase. Motion made by Milne, seconded by VanHoy to turn this
to the Water Committee for study and report. Motion carried. Zier, Combs, VanHoy
and Milne on Committee.

A petition signed by approximately 64 signers was presented by Napoleon Wilson.
Petition is to establish an L. I. D. Sanitary Sewer System to serve West half of
Blocks 4, 5 and 6 and all of Blocks 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12, Terrace Heights Addit-
ion with payments to be made by special assessments payable in 10 equal annual

TREE TRIMMING, 900 BLOCK ON PARK STREET:
Councilman Combs reports that the College recommends that, Maple Trees should 'not be
pruned during .the winter months. In cases where property owners want to sponsor
a tree trimming project the City will approve.
SALARY, ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF & CAPTAIN:
VanHoy reports a discrepancy in the budget by error in salaries allocated in
the 1957 budget therefore makes a motion, seconded by Milne that the Fire Committee
furnish information to the. City Attorney for the purpose of preparing a resolution
to straighten out the salaries of the Assistant Fire Chief and Captain. Motion
carried. ,
POST OFFICE MAIL BOX:
Chief of Police i,s desirous of moving the snorkel mail box around on Third, where
pump used to be account of intersection congestion caused by its present location.
Mayor appointed VanHoy a Committee of one to work this out with Fire Chief Cooney.
VACATING NORTH AND SOUTH ALLEY, BLOCK 157, PASCO LAND COMPANY FIRST ADDITION:
Decidating a strip on east side of Block for Wehe Street. City Engineer states
he wrote to Mr. Allen but has not recieved an answer yet.
CITY` REPAIR SHOP:
Motion made by Combs, seconded by Zier that a committee investigate the feasibility
of establishing a City Garage and Repair Shop. Motion carried. The Mayor appointed
Thompson as Chairman with Hicks and-VanHoy.
CASCADE (;AS COMPANY LEASE, SOUTH 12th:
Mayor Custer reports he has negotiated a lease on terms suggested by the Council
at $120.00 per year. City Attorney to prepare contract.
READING OF RESOLUTIONS:

MISCELLANEOUS:
E` TEL GASOLINE FOR POLICE CARS:
Mayor reports that the new cars purchased by the Police Department should use
only Ethel Gas for correct performance. Using City Hall pump for Ethel gas only
was disgussed. Motion made by Milne, seconded by Zier to turn this to the
Property Committee to negotiate with the Continental Oil Company on Ethel change
over and temporary supply; report back at next meeting. Motion carried. Purchas-
ing at a service station during process of getting tank empty was mentioned.

City Attorney Richard G. ratrick thinks it would be well if the 'Mayor would write
the legislators from this district requesting them to oppose House Bill No. 35•
Motion made by Milne, seconded by Combs instructing the "layor to write all the
Legislators of this district to oppose House Bill No. 35. Motion carried.
