REGULAR MEETING COUNCIL CHAMBERS MARCH 3, 1953
CALL TO ORDER:
Meeting called to order at 8:10 P. M. Honorable Mayor John Beck presiding.
ROLL CALL:
By Clerk. Councilmen present were J. A. Avery, L. E. Bonnett, C. R. Combs, S. A.
Connell, Raymond Hicks, C. S. Milne and T. G. Overlie, also City Attorney Orville
B. -Olson.
REGULAR ORDER OF BUSINESS SET ASIDE SY UNANIMOUS CONSENT:
i' TRAFFIC & PARKING CONTROL, LEWIS STREET:
Mr. Spence Jelek, Chairman of Committee appointed by the 14ayor presented a copy
of minutes on meeting held.February 24, 1953 at the Manor. This was read by the
Mayor. A letter and recommendation -presented by the Chamber of Commerce was re-
ferred to. Property owners-and-inerchants were present. All expressed their
i' triews. R. H-. Pyle, District -Location Engineer for the Highway Department, was
present and answered question's for the council•and public. Setting back curbs
and cutting sidewalks was con-s'idere-do Motion was made b y Connell, seconded by
Avery that the City Council give consideration to setting sidewalks back 42'
on -each side of - street between Sedotid!'and-Eighth on Lewis -when need arises
instead of "no parking". Motion carridd by roll call vote of seven (7) -
Mr. Pyle was asked if the 'State would adjust neon signs when sidewalks are cut
back, he could not answer this.

Current bills against the City were read As follows. Motion made by Avery, sec-
onded by Overlie that all vouchers•piroperly signed and approved be allowed.

Resolution No. 325 was read. The anount'of proposed bond issue was changed from
$300,000.00 to ,600,000.00 by Mayor'Beck. Motion made by -Overlie, seconded by
Bonnett to adopt Resolution No. 325. Motion carried by roll call vote of six (6).

A letter was read from E. H. Kidwell requesting to -purchase Lots 11 to 16, Block

Application for more space at the Airport was aproved. Motion made by Milne,
seconded by Overlie approving lease. Motion carried.

OUTFALL SEWER. ARMY ENGINEERS:
A contract was read for relocation, -re -arrangement or alteration of facilities.
This covers the sanitary -storm 'sewer""line. -The facility upon completion shall
become the property of the owner upon -'its transfer by the Government as herein
provided. Motion made by* Combs, seconded--by-Milne accepting the contract and
authorizing -the Mayor to sign.- Motion carried by roll call vote of six (6).
STOP SIGNS:
Motion made by Bonnett, seconded by'Milne instructing the Police Department to
place stop signs from -5th to'10th Streets on Clark Street making Clark Street
an arterial. Motion carried.
BUSINESS LICENSE APPLICATIONS:
Applications were presented. No -,action taken.
