STREET OILING BIDS: Five bids were received, -opened and read as follows: Central Asphalt Company, Pasco, Wash. $160800.00 L. W. Vail Company. Pasco, Washington 162920.00 YcAtee & Heathe, Spokane, Washington 172400.00 piesel.O l Sales, Seattle, Washington 19,600.00 Standard Asphalt Paving Co. Spokane, Wn. 20,400.00 Engineer Blanton, Fisher and Overlie retired tothe Clerks Office to make the extensions and prove totals. REGULAR ORDER OF BUSINESS RESUMED BY UNANIMOUS CONSENT: COMMUNI CATIONS: COURTESY ENVELOPES (Parking Illeters): A letter was read signed by Carl. G. Lingren, Roy E. Sall and Russell Meier re- questing that the use of courtesy envelopes on the Parking Meters be discontinued and return to original system. This was turned to the Police and License Comm- ittee for recommendation. HEALTH DEPARTMENT (Budget): A letter was read from J. W. Fanning, Chairman, Benton -Franklin District Board of Health requesting adequate assistance with the 1951 Budget. This was turned to the Finance Committee and Bonnett. CONTINENTAL GRAIN COMPANY (Storage Bins): A letter was read from the Continental Grain Company requesting to erect a tem- porary grain bin in the City Street necessitating the abandonment of River Street at this location which is parallel to the elevator at the Port. This would be needed for a period of one year, renewable at the and of that time if the emerg- ency still exists. Motion made by Bonnett, seconded. by Churchman granting the request for one year. Motion carried. JOHN W. CUNNINGHAM & ASSOCIATES: A letter was read from F. S. Zeidlhack stating three (3) copies of the report on Water Distribution System and other Water works improvements had been mailed. The report was discussed with Hostetter. Checking on school surplus by the Water CommittQQ then submit recommendation at next meeting was requested by the Mayor pro tem. NAVAL AIR STATION:, A letter was read from Hal Holmes relative to acquiring the Pasco Naval Air Station for the City; states he will help in any way possible. STREETS 421 WIDE FROM CURB TO CURB: A letter was read from the Planning Commission requesting that an ordinance be drawn in effect that in the future there must be a minimum of 42 feet from curb to curb for street purposes. Motion made by Hostetter, seconded by Nelson that this be turned to the City Attorney for ordinance. Motion carried. SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT SITE: A letter was read from Colonel Wm. Whipple regarding sewage treatment plant site exchange of property for a site in the General Depot Area to City's existing unimproved site located just up stream from the Northern Pacific Rail - Way Bridge was proposed. Recreational development of the inlet area would be done by the local agencies. Representatives of the Walla Walla Office will contact committee in the near future. Letter turned to the Water Committee and the Water Manager. PIPE REPLAC&ENT - SOUTH BRIDGE: Water Manager states by letter the cost'of replacement with a 6" Cast Iron Pipe would cost approximately $1,250.00; 2" galvanized pipe would cost approx- imately $450.00. Water Committee suggested the 2" pipe. Motion made by Hostetter recomminding that the City replace line with the 2" galvanized pipe as suggested by the Water Manager. Lotion carried. CLAIMS presented by Dr. W. H. Orr and NIr. Jack Cavander. A letter was read from the Firemen's Fund Indemnity Company requesting that the City pay deductible amounts of $100.00 and $75.00 as this company has settled the dims. City Attorney to check policy and advise. 1702 PASCO, WASHINGTON RECESSED MEETING COUNCIL CHAMBERS JULY 5, 1950 STREET OILING: Engineer Blanton reports on Bids and reports that the Central Asphalt Paving Company submitted the low bid at $16,800.00. Motion made by Bonnett that' the bid of the Central Asphalt Company be accepted. Contract was read by Blanton. Mct ion seconded by Hostetter and carried by roll call vote of six (6). Mr. Jackson states he.can start work within 10 days. L. W. Vail's bid to be held in tact account being second low. Other checks and bonds to be returned. BUSINESS LICENSE APPLICATIONS: Motion made by nelson, seconded by Overlie that applications approved by the Police Committee be issued. Motion carried.
