Meeting called to order at 1:40 P.M.

ROLL CALL: By Clerk. Councilmen present were L. E. Bonnett C. S. Churchman,
A. T. Hostetter and T. G. Overlie. Absent Charles Grigg, Raymond
Hicks and H. G. Lake. City Attorney Orville B. Olson was present.
BILLS: Current bills against the City were read as follows. Motion made
by Overlie and'seconded by -Hostetter that all vouchers properly
signed and approved be allowed. Motion carried by roll call vote
of four (4).

A letter was read from Mayor Beck making the -following
appointments
effective as of January 4,
1949:

Street Superintendent
H. V. Harris
Water Superintendent
Maurine Miller
Recreation Director
Maurine Miller's position and wage was discussed, a man director was
favored by some, demotion of Miss Miller when a male director was
employed, was thought to be a -bad policy. Motion made by Bonnett
that salary be split between Director and Assistant Director. Mo-
tion withdrawn. Motion made by Bonnett, seconded by Churchman, that
Miss Miller be paid $275.00 per month as Acting Director, temporary
appointment. Motion carried by roll call vote of thEee (3). Overlie
voting No.
A. M. Haylett Building Inspector
Arthur Stewart Park Superintendent
E. 0. Wartensleben Carry over as Special Police Health.,:°
Officer,(Jan. & Febr.1949, pending re-
port from Committee.) to carry over as special Police Health
E. 0. Wartensleben's appointment/was questioned. Motion made by
Churchman, seconded by Bonnett that appointment by the Mayor be
accepted as amended (which amendment) that he continue through January
and February pending -report from Committee. Motion carried.
All other help to carry over.

ORDINANCE: ORDINANCE NO.647
AN ORDINANCE, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 615, BEING AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO
THE CONVEYING OF PASSENGERS AND BAGGAGE FOR HIRE, AND PROVIDING FOR
TAXICAB OPERATORS LICENSE AND REGULATING THE OWNERSHIP OF TAXICAB
AND TAXICAB COMPANIES IN THE CITY OF PASCO: AND LIMITING AND CONTROLLt
I NG THE NUMBER OF TAXICAB LICENSES AS PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSI-
TY REQUIRE.
Motion made by OVerliewarid_seconded;:by Churchman that Ordinance No.
647 be giving the first reading. Motion carried. Ordinance No. 647

BUSINESS LICENSE:
A list of business applications was read. Motion made by Overlie= that
the City CCleiik. be authorized to issue renewals except applications
as follows, marked for consideration:

City Cafe
Lincoln's Welding & Repair
RADIO AGREEMENT BETWEEN COUNTY AND CITY:
Warrant in the amount of $1,500.00,to be held up pending. a report
from Police Committee.

WATER MAXAGER:
A water manager to succeed H. V. Harris has not been appointed, more
consideration to be given.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion made by Hostetter, seconded by Churchman that the meeting
adjourn to Tuesday, February 1, 1949, eight o'clock P. M.
Motion carried.
