SPECIAL MEETING COUNCIL CHAMBER APRIL 9, 1948.
CA1::L TO ORDER Special Meeting called by Honorable Mayor W. A. Nelson.
CALL TO ORDER: At 1:40 P. M. Honorable Mayor W. A. Nelson presiding.
ROLL CALL: By Clerk, Councilmen present, Art Glasow, Jr., Charles Grigg, A. T.
Hostetter, H. G. Lake, T. G. Overlie and C. R. Wallis. John Beck arrived at 1:55 P.M.
D. W. Zent was absent.
EMPLOYING MR. JA14ES N. KRUEGER: was discussed in general, Mayor Nelson
and Mr. Grigg related their interview with him, also recommendations. Salary
mentioned was $600.00 per month or $7,200.00 per year. He would be in charge of
all appointive positions and would perform on work other than for the City. In
conclusion a motion was made by Glasow, seconded by Overlie that James N. Krueger
be hired as City Engineer starting April 12th, 1948 -at a salary of $600.00 per
month, that resolution be prepared by the City Attorney; motion carried by roll
call vote of six (6). Beck arrived at this time; matter discussed with Council-
man Beck; he states he is not voting.
Mayor Nelson was excused at this time, 2;15 P.M.
JAMES CONSTRUCTION COMPANY'S EXTENSION OF TIME ON CONTRACT: A letter
from J. W. Cunningham and Associates was discussed at this time; they recommend
that the time be extended 45 days on completion of the Filtration Plant. Motion
so made by Grigg, seconded by Overlie; carried by roll call vote of six (6).
TAXI CABS - PARKING STAND: Utz wishes to renew transfer of loading station
at 115 -2nd Avenue. Also one loading meter space at 1st Meter on the South East
Corner of.3rd and Lewis, side of Lloyd's Cafe. The Royal Cab Co. had made
application for a meter space at 330 West Lewis in front of Lloyd's Cafe. The
G. I. Cab Co. request a loading stand on the'North East corner of 3rd and Lewis
and give up their space at the South East corner.
In regard to G. I. Taxi Cab Company's request the police committee
recommend that they be granted a space adjacent to the Lewis Hotel retaining their
location at Ray's Tavern. Motion made by Lake, seconded by Wallis that the
recommendation be accepted; motion carried.

Tuesday 8:00 ol-clock R.M., April 20, 1948.
