RECESSED MEETIN
CALL TO ORDER:-
PASCO, WASHINGTON
COUNCIL CHAMBER
Meeting called to order at 8:00 o.'clock P.M., Honorable Mayor W.A. Nelson
presiding.
ROLL CALL:
By clerk, councilmen present, John Beck, Art Glasow Jr., Chas Grigg, A.T. Hostetter,
H.G. Lake and C.R. Wallis; T.G. Overlie arrived at.8:25 o'clock, City Attorney
D.W. Zent was also present.
SEWER EXTENSION:
Costs, etc on East Side Sewer E xtensions were discussed, biarold Younker was o
called to the meeting regarding service to his propwety, in conclusion a motion
was.made by Glasow, seconded by Beck that Browns bid be rejected, mode discussion
followed, in -conclusion., a motion was made by Beck seconded by Grigg that the
water manager be instructed to construct an 8" sewer in alley between North Wehe
and north Beach; from an existing manhole 35' South of the "outh line of East
Alvina Street, and extend North to a -point 115' within block two (2). If the
first six building sites from the 6outh and of block be paid in advance which
would be the sum of $300.00. If $400.00 is paid the extension shall be an
additional 501, motion carried by roll call vote of five (5), Hostetter and
Wallis voting "no".
DRAG .LINE BIDS:
Bids on a dragline were reviewed and it was thought that all bids were too high,
motion made by Grigg seconded by Hostetter that all bids be rejected account in-
sufficient funds, motion made by roll call vote of five (5). Lake not voting,
Overlie absent.
GASOLINE AND DIESEL OIL( BIDS CONTINUED):
After rereading bid by contract submitted on diesel oil by the Richfield Oil Co.,
mention was made that the price was based on posted price at time of delivery,
motion. made by Hostetter seconded by Beck that H.Earl Clack's bid of .1145 for
the,c.alendar year be accepted, motion carried by roll call vote of six (6).
GAS LINE ACROSS ALLEY:
Mr)d. Tom Patterson made inquiry relative to crossing the alley with a Propane gas
line to serve the cleaning establishment in the., Cunningham Hotel Building, motion
made by Beck that the Western Gas Co. be allowed to install a gas line across the
City alley adjacent the Cunningham Hotel, motion seconded by Glasow, City
Building Inspecton and Fire Chief to O.K. installation.
RELIABLE'TAXI CAB CO. (METER STANDS):
Harold T'. Baker of the Reliable Cab Co.'s application for two meter stands at
215 W. Lewis, was read, by consensus of the council, action was held up to
January 20, 1948, permission was given to operate from private property with
telephone service.
PETITION AGAINST ORDINANCE NO. 613: was read, Jeffery Hinman an attorney from
Seattle appeared in behalf of Carlton Smith and others interested in the passing
y' of this Ordinance which defines certain offenses against peace and good -order, he
requ6sts that the Ordinance not be passed in its present form.
TELEGRAM FROM STATE NAACP: was read stating strenuous objection to obvious
segreg&tion in re -zoning districts this is a free america=Frank McIntosh President
State NAACP, 907 S. 6th, Yakima, Wash.; this probably refers to anticipated
business district on Last Side of track and South of Lewis Street.
ADJOURNMENT:
Motion made by Lake seconded by Grigg„that the meeting adjourn to next regular
meeting, Tuesday January 20, 1948, motion carried.
