REGULAR ORDER OF BUSIFI]SS SET ASIDE: by unanimous consent. RODENT CONTROL: Two representatives from the State health Department were present Mr. I.W. Clanton reported hav'inr poisoned rats at the dumpand gased their hide outs and burrows in the city. Ie recommended that the wooden sheds or storage buildings in the rear of cafes and grocery stores be condemned, thus,making it possible to exterminate. The City owns a cyano gas machine, at present it is at John Dietrichs residence. A RaRTTVIENT HOUSE (S.M. MULLEN) : Mr. 111ullens desires to erect an apartment of fifteen or twenty units in Kurths Addition across the alley from Bux store, motion made by Zeck that the building inspector be instructed to issu ,4 building permit to a.PJI. P�Iullen for an apartment house on lots 25, 26, 27 and 28, phis being in line with a proposed plan making this block a commercial district, motion seconded by Glasow, carried by roll call vote of seven (7). BIDS ON PIT RUN GRAVEL: No bids were received, Brown sold to the county df $1.10 per square yard, motion made by Grigg au.thorizinu Brickey to purchase 100 yards, 3/4" minus gravel at a price not to acceed 1.10 per yard on open market to be loaded on city trucks, motion seconded by Bee]., carried by roll call vote of seven (7). CUNNINGHAM & ASSOCIATES: EQUIPTVIENT BID CH.I NGE: A letter was read from F.S. Zeid1hack asking approval on the change of bid on (ca,, -,t iron filter bed manifolds)from Hugh G. Purcell Co. to Atlas Foundry and Machine Co. at a saving of appr6ximatey $1,258:00, motion made by Beck that the council approve the change of bid as requested, motion carried by roll call vote of seven (7) . REPORTS FROM COMMITTEES: STREET COMMITTEE: : Reports the need of a survey on proposed alley to be acquired from the Northern Pacific Railway Co: just north of "A" Street, City 'ttorne; need legal description to start procedure, motion made by Overlie that an engineer be employed to survey an alley north of "Al" Street between lst and 6th Streets, motion seconded by Hostetter, motion carried by roll call vote of seven (7). GRAVEL PIT SURVEY (JOHN 1613:.CUNNINGHAM & ASSOCIATES:) A bill in the amount of il409.61 covering services in connection with survey and calculations of quantities of Gravel pit in Grays Amended t-ddi.tion, motion made by Beck seconded by Glasow that the City Attorney be instructed to draw an emergency Ordinance to pay 'john VV. Cunningham & Associates for services at the gravel pit as this was not fore seen at the time the budget was made, motion carried. R=!1BU RSEMENT : East side 1`4arket requests reimbursement for cost of black top applied to the Street while surfacing drive way, no actiontaken. GO SLOW STREET SIGNS: Br.ickev states he has no signs on hand but will order through the city clerks j of -ice. iWATER COMMITTEE: No report. j LIGHTS: nothing being done regarding light installation. POLICE COMMITTEE: a misunderstanding in regard to salaries and Civil Service I recommendation as to promotional set up. The Committee and Civil Service Commission now recommend that Glen 6ickles receive,1$ 235.90 per month retroactive as of January lst, 1947, motion made by Grigg seconded by Beck to accept the recommendation, motion carried by roll call vote of seven (7). INSURANCE: Finance Committee request more time. PLANNING COMMISSION: Lake recommended that the Planning Commission be abolished as it is detremental to the city, City Attorney to check and advise. BUILDING INSPECTOR: Terminating A.M. Haylett as Building inspector and adding this duty to the Fire Department as -they could handle this job fine in their line of work was suggested by Grigg, lvlatthi.as stated he would like this turned to Lyle Cooney in a form of promotion, vig;y Attorney to check Ordinance. CEMETERY: More lots are needed -it would take 1000 feet of 3/4" pipe to improve Block 8 and 1000feet of 3/4" pipe to improve Block 9, pipe at this time is not obtainable, work will have to be done as pipe can be had. Roads for drive ways black topped was discussed, motion made by Beck that Street Department be instructed, motion withdrawn, this to be worked out by the sexton and Street Department. BARN AT CEMETERY' not on City property,,Public Property Committee to check and request purchase. MAYORS OFFICE: ,..: Motion made by Hostetter that the present Mayors office be turned to the Tire Department for a dormitory and that the former council room be used by the council and not for the benefit of the public or private groups, lodges or other organizations, seconded by Lake, carried by roll call vote of seven (7).
