Nelson. _ II • ROLL CALL: i By Clerk, councilmen present. -were John Beck, rirthur E. Glasow Jr., Charles Grigg, A.T. Hostetter, H.G. Lake, T.G. Overlie and C.R. Wallis, City Attorney D.W. Lent was absent. SWIMMING POOL: Mr. W.L. Malloney, of Spokane, -spoke to the council regarding plans for a swimming pool, different types, sizes' and price were discussed, Mr. Malloney thought a pool 75 X 50 meters was a nice size,.the plans presented by lir. Morgan were reviewed. He also favors keeping the wading pool separate and,apart from the swimming pool. Heating bath house and filtration facilities were discussed. Visitors were heard from at this time. i I MR. SANDERSON a member of the Park Board stated that the Pioneers Daughters had donated Sylvester Park to the city for a swimming pool and park purposes. The council adjourned to another office to consider action to be taken on information received from Iter. Malloney, he states plans could be completed in five or six weeks.. On return of the council in session; motion was made by Beck that Mr. Malloney present contract by February 18, 1947, that 'Vir. Zent review the contract and draw Resolution. Pool size 50•X 165 approximately, together with wading pool and all necessary appurtenances, motion seconded by Overlie, carried by roll call vote of seven (7), council to contact C.P.A.. Mr. Malloney would expect 2/3 of his fee at the time plans were presented and accepted. (6% of completed contract price) would be total fee. Harold Blanton to be approche.d relative to furnishing contures and profile to Mr. Malloney of Memorial Park, this also to be used by part doing the land scaping. Recreation. committee and council to meet with Mr. Malloney Saturday morning early to look over Memorial site. DWIGHT THOMAS: spoke in the, interest of Boy Scout activities and Recreation in general especially out door games. Picnic grounds for family use mentioned; !, acquiring property a djacent the gun club to t he west w as recommended. Army Engineers could a ssist with cityand county parks at the time the docks are constructed, city would have to obtain land. Clahk Sherman of Seattle would lend assisstan.ce in helping.to plan the area, would also bring slides and show scenes of coast camps,- providing he was reimbursed for his fare. VOUCHER FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT: To cover purchase of equipment at the Surplus Property Depto was presented, motion made by Beck seconded by Overlie that the voucher be honored, motion c-arried by roll call vote of seven (7). p BUILDING SHACKS -WITHIN CITY LIMITS (A,.M. HAYLETT): Mr. Haylett spoke regarding requests he has had from people wanting to erect garages, etc. from surplus property crates, with out foundations, siding or paint, thus creating a very unsightly building in District R-1, the council !I assured Mr. Hayl'ett they desired to have the Ordinance lived up to. RESOLUTION NO. 279: 'I Accepting bond bid of the National Bank ' of commerce, and Associates of 1.9542% on $132,000.00 General Obligation Bonds. Motion made by Beck seconded by Overlie that Resolution No. 279 be adopted, motion carried by roll call vote of seven (7) . GRAVELING STREETS: u I! 1, The Street Committee recommend the following streets graveled; i! ADAMS STREET from Park to Sylve.ster, approximate cost $200.00, two blocks, motion made by hostetters econded by Grigg that graveling as stated be i carried out and that authorization be granted the 6treet Department to so do, motion carried by roll, call vote of seven (7). GnIGG RENT GRADE;: Mr. Grigg ha•s.reques'ted through the Street, Department, to rent the city's old grader to level yards at Park and•vIargaret, motion made by Overlie that the Street Departure"nt be a ut-horized to rent the old grader, to I .I.. Grigg for work I on his project 'at Ni on and Plargaret at $1,00 pe,r hour' and $8.00 .per hour for the large grader with operator if necessary to use the large one, motion seconded by Glas.ow,, carried by roll call vote of seven (7).. GRADE AND CrRAVELAT�LEYS :_ - Street committee wish to grade „and ravel alleys in Block 4., and '5, Births Addition at an appro'xi-mat'e cost of ;+3,50.00, motion made 'by Overlie seconded by Lake that this work be authorized,_; .motion carri.edby roll call vote of seven (7).
