Nelson J. presiding. �- ROLL CALL: By clerk, councilmen present; John Beck, Arthur E. Glasow..Jr., Chas. Grigg.. A.T. Hostetter, H.G. Lake., T.G. Overlie and C.R. Wallis, Uity Attorney D.W. Zent was absent. OPENING BID ON BONDS: Bids were called on bonds to be opened at this time. Five (5) sealed bids were received, opened and read as follows. NAME INTEREST RATE 1. The National Bank of Commerce -Seattle, 'Nash. 1.957% 2. Pacific Northwest -Company -Seattle, Wash. 1.975% 3. Paine -Rice & Company -Spokane, Wash. 2..032% 4. State of Washington -Olympia, Wash. 2.10 5. Foster & Marshall -Seattle, Wash. 2.132% 4 Certified checks accompanied each bid with the exception of the State bid. Tabulations were made by the Mayor, Ui.ty Treasurer & members of the council, it was very evident that the two'lowest bidders were The National'Bank of Commerce and Pacific Northwest Company, motion made by Beck seconded by nostetter recommending the sale of bonds to The National Bank of Commerce and requesting Graves, Kizer & Graves to draw a Resolution covering the purchase; all. bids to be forwarded to graves, Kizer and Graves £ordchecking ;-ainot.ion a John Beck aye, Arthur E. Glaswow, Jr. Tye Charles Grigg aye A.T; Hostetter- aye H;G: Lake aye T -G; Overlie aye C.R. Wallis aye 3 by roll call, the vote of seven(7). ALLEY THROUGH NORTHERN PACIFI"C RAILWAY,COMPANYS PROPERTY, NEAR "A" STREET: Extending an alley from 1st street to 6th street through northern racifie Railway Companys property, 140 feet -North of "A" Street was discussed, this location would be directly North anal -adjacent Warden Fann's property on "A" Street. The Eastbblock,of tUs.all.e.y would.serve the. Big Bend Lumber Co., motion made by beck authorizing'the mayor to -request an alley 30 feet wide from the Northern Pacific Railway Company adjacent on the North to Fanns property to extend from 1st street to 6th street, motion seconded by Grigg and carried. GRAVELING STREETS: Improvements to the following stre,ets.was recommended. GRAVELING: Murray from Shoshone to Hopkins; 11th from Hopkins to Bonneville - 40' wide will cost approximately $107.00; Olive Street from -Lucas to Pacific, grade level, k on Shoshone from 10th to 12th, graveled approximate cost 4p155.00; one bloc 40' ih width approximate cost $175.00; on Murray from Sylvester to Nixon, 40' side,. approximate cost $60.00; motion made by nostetter seconded by Lake that streets be graveled as recommended by Street committee and authorizing work to � be done, motion carried by roll call vote. of seven (7). CALL FOR BIDS ON GRADING AND GRAVELING AS FOLLOWS: _ l On Idaho, grade & gravel from East Lewis to South i'�Ve.he 40' wide; Wehe grade and i gravel from Idaho to "A" 40' wide; Hopkins grade and gravel Wehe to Cedar 40' wide, motion made by Lake that we call -for bids on the above mentioned'streets as recommended by the Street Committee, bid callable February 18, 1947, motion seconded by Ulasow, carried by roll call vote of seven(7). widening Sylvester Street from 5th Murray; also Yakima from -4th to 5th, motion made by Grigg seconded by Lake to accept the Committees Recommendation and call for bids to be opened February 18, 1947, motion carried by roll call cote of seven(7). MR. RHEA PYLE: of the Highway Department conversed with the council in regard to street construction work,. Mayor ProteM A.T. Hostetter conducted the last few minutes of the meeting as Mayor Nelson was excused.
