Smith Company in person requested permission to .retain a temr- orary equipment yard, on South Gray just off of Ainsworth. The yard will be fenced and kept in good order. Lotion made by Marshall seconded by Tleck to grant the re- quest, motion carried so ordered. RECRnATION CENTER (MOLINE & LELA"T ) A letter was read from Moline & Leland stating their desire to develop- and operate, -a Recreation Center in the basement of the'Cunningham Hotel, in connection with the Dormitory all ready established. They wish to obtain a license to onera.te two or. three pool tables. Entrances and exits were discussed ; the co?.incil was informed that the swinging door at the Tacoma Streetentrance opened by swing4ng in side this condition will have to be.changed to swing toward the*st.reet. RESOLUTION IiUDMI ER 211 (S71II'�'?TNG POOL C0Y7T.tTTTE7,) : Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pasco assembled in regular meetin this { 6th day of March, 1945, that the City accept the following described Pronerty all in Helm's second Addition to the City of Pasco, as a gift from T,ranklin County Post No. 14 of the American Legion: All of Block 11 Lots 1 to 8 and 25 to 10 in Block 14 All of Block 15 Lots 1 to 16 and 24 to 12 in Block 16 And, any additional lots in Blocks 14 and 16 which may be donated to the City by the American Legion or any other group or individual. ' That, the City Council take such stens as may be exnedient and/or necessary to acquire title to the property in Blocks 14 and 16 which may still be in private ow.nershir without delay; Motion made by Diemond seconded by ARarsha.11 to accept the resolution. Mr. Booth spoke of two Blocks and a portion of a third Block between Helms second Addition and Petits Addition on the South being condemned by the City. ftfost of thid is County property. Motion made by Ma -shall seconded by Beck that the City take immediate steps to cond.em this property for public necessity, motion carried so ordered. CHANGE IN HEALTH DEPARTTTNT SET UP: Dr. Chas. Tudor, informed the council that the Franklin, Benton Health nerartment was no longer under the jurisdiction of the !"'alla ?'1a11a nern-tment, another health inspector has been added to the force, also two more Public nurses thus enabling the Department to give better service. Transferring money from supplies to Clerks salary was requested, it was thought that $100.00 would be sufficient for medical supplies. BROWNING'S TE'IPORARY TRATLFR LIC7NSE: Idr. Browning's application to renew his trailer came license was read, also a letter from the Health Department recommending that no license he issued. PollowinF a ,dis- cussion where by 1r. Mitchener stated the camp was neglected, toilets out of order most of the time, garbage not cared for, and that Mr. Browning agreed iiron obtaining last permit that a ca-etaker would be obtained, but this has never been done. TRAILER _SALES LOT LICENSE: Mr. Hampton's application to overate a Sales Trailer .lot at 805 17. Lewis -►as read. ?notion made by Beck seconded by Marshall to issue license, motion carried. Mr. Hampton understands -that the Ordinance must be observed. REPAIR SHOP:: Mr. E_0_frsL A license application was presented by Lawrence ARor.se to overate a repair shor in a garage on A street and Chestnut. This was held, rip pendinp investipa.ti.on by the council. COLORED TRAILER SETTLEI.2ENT : Colored trailer settlement is a bad situation both as a Police and Health problem. Sheldon A letter was read from Harley 111. Allen of Walla Walla, giving notice of a claim � filed against B.H. Sheldon, in the amount of 6,2100.00 for labor, materials liquidated damages and unjustified cancellation of contract. _ J.17. CUNNINGHAM REGARnING ^STI ;ATE Nt7T7R 9` A letter was read from. J.W. Cunningham stating they had been notified by Sheldon that the Sewer contract was completed except some paving; this being the final es- timate all charges against the contractor should be deducted; Cunningham and ass- ociates are withholding final report until notified by the City They also feel that the water should be connected to the pump house as this is essential to flush down walls of the pit, and is according to specifications. motion made by T."arshal.l to accept Zeidlhack's recommendation and hold up payments to Sheldon as long as suit is pending. Motion seconded by Beck, motion carried so ordered. COIMIFTNDING TIRE DEPARTUENT : A letter was read from Commanding Officer U.S. Naval Air Station, J.E. Shoemaker extending his appreciation for excellent assistance given by the City Fire nepartment at the Base fire, February 27, 1945. Letter to be extended to the Fireman and Fire Chief. PURCHA"E OF CITY PROPERTY (H.F. Colvin) A letter was read from H.F. Colvin stating he wished to purchase from the City lots eleven to sixteen- Block twenty two N.P. Plat for a tire shop. In the discussion that followed the property now being used by the Morning 11ilk Company, Was re- viewed. Building and Property Committee to make further investigation and report; Colvin's request also turned to the same Committee through a motion made by T: -Tr. ashall seconded by Casey. Motion carried so ordered. OBTAINING CITY ^ILFS:By Resolution 2?6 Obtaining City files, not turned over by the ex-Tiayor and City Attorney was con- sidered, the City Attorney suggested that a resolution be drawn and adopted de- mandinthat the ex -Mayor and City Attorney be instructed to turn all files pre- Cltaining to City Business to the City Clerk at once.
