ROLL CALL: By Clerk Councilmen present C. L. Booth, W. E. Drennan, V. F. Marshall and D. F. Rodkey. Also City Attorney Karl J1 Grimm. Councilmen absent D. B. Baker, Chas Diemond and M. J. Linderman. READINGCOF THE MINUTES: Minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved. REGULAR ORDER OF BUSINESS SET ASIDE by unanimous consent; E. G. Lapet.s option on City Property; Mr. Lape was present and expressed his detire to go ahead and purchase lots 1 to 5 inc., block 13 Northern Pacific Plat. On February 15th 1944, at a regular meeting of,the council Mr. Lape was allowed six months to obtain priorities and start erecting the building in accordance with plans submitted, following a short discussion motion was made by Mr. Booth seconded by Marshall that the agreement run the full time of six months and at the expiration of that time the council will reconsider motion carried so ordered. REGULAR ORDER OF BUSINESS RESUMED-.: By unanimous consent. 1 COMMUNICATIONS: , TAXI METERS: A letter was read from Mr. Lyle Gillard suggesting that all taxies be equip! - ed with meters and a set price per mile fixed by the city motion made by Marshall seconded by Rodkey that this communication be tabled for the time being motion carried. COMPENSATOR: A letter was read from the Bartlett Electric and Equipment Company stating , the compensator was ready or shipment motion made by Rodkey seconded by Marshall that this company be informed that on account of high water the compensator could not be used at this time motion carried. ` REPORTS FROM COMMI'T'TEES:: FIRE COMMITTEE: reports they have taken steps to show the need of more fire fighting equipment and are negotiating to sell the old truck and the purchase of a new one, they expect to realize about $1500.00 out of the old fire truck and will probably have to pay approximately $4500.00 for a new one Motion made by Rodkey that if the money is available for that purpose that Marshall go ahead and receive data for both deals motion seconded by Marshall carried so ordered. CELL BLOCK adding another block of cells to the jail on the west side of the City Hall to accomodate twenty or more prisoners was discussed securing plans for same from Mr. Pierson or Harold Blanton was thought possible motion made by Booth seconded by Drennan granting Marshall the authority to obtain a plan or sketch of the proposed addition motion carried. POLICE COMMITTEE held a meeting a weekago and reports several men were in- terviewed for the position of patrolmen only three were hired; A male clerk is now employed in the Police Office. The new meter man Mr. Usher is sick and in the hospital. WATER AND SEWER: Committee reports that several connections are being made by the Pasco Plumbing and Heating Company without inspection or 0. K. by D. W. McGhee mention v.as made of the Enter City Bus Depot at Clark and Second, Hogan Drug Company Third and Lewis and the Coleman Cabin Units First and Shoshone the council favors having violaters 1±g remove dirt for inspection. SEWER CONNECTION CHARGES: were again discussed, an ordinance will be drawn up by the City Attorney and presented at the next regular meeting. REPORT FROM OFFICERS: The City Treasurerts report for May 1944 was read. Water Manager's report for May 1944 was read. The City Clerk furnished each member a budget report for May 1944 covering all departments. PURCHASING BONDS: The Finance Committee to consider cash on hand for bond investment. Mr F. S. Zeidlhack and Mr. Manchester discussed the progress of the sewer project, work has been rather slow another shovel is to start June 22, 1944, Mr. Zeidlhack advises all concerned that no changes regarding sewer project should be made, except through John W. Cunninghamts Offi( tI;ry .)l�tter and sketch of proposed changes with details of cost etc. in no event can an extension be made where there are no alleys such as requested by John Belk. In case of extraV manholes being re- quested this must also be carried out thvough advice from John W. Cunningham's office.
