CALL TO ORDER: Meeting called to order at 9:10 P. M. Honorable Mayor E. S. Johnston
presiding.
ROLL CALL: By Clerk. Councilmen present were D. Byron Baker, C. L. Booth,
V. F. Marshall, and D. F. Rodkey. Absent were Charles Diemond, W. E. Drennan,
and M. J. Lindeman. City Attorney Karl J. Grimm .was present.
REGULAR ORDER OF BUSINESS SET ASIDE: through a motion made by Rodkey,
seconded by Booth. Carried so ordered.
SEWER PIPE DECISION:
Mr. Coleman was present to hear decision on the type of sewer pipe he
would have to use in connecting cabins and cafe to the sewer. The committee
recommended abiding by the original ordinance now in effect which specifies
cast iron pipe. Motion made by Marshall, seconded by Booth to accept the
committee's recommendation. Motion carried so ordered.
RECREATION CENTER:
A letter and floor plan was received and read from C. E. Swanson and
W. H. Hamann relative to obtaining a license to operate a Recreation Center
'
for colored people at 217 W. Lewis. They would like to open for -business
June 15, 1944. The Mayor favors waiting for the coordinator from California.
The committee requests more time.. This was granted.
PROPOSED SEWER EXTENSION:
W. H. Hamann requests an extension _o.f the Sewer Project to include
Block 6 Riverside Addition. Committee to contact contractor then make
recommendation.
CONTRACTOR'S BOND & INSURANCE:`
B. H. Sheldon's SuretyBond in the amount of $61 191.
, 55 was reviewed
by,the council and signed as being approved by the City.Attorney.
LEASE ON SITE FOR SEWER PUMP INSTALLATION:
The lease covering a piece of ground 30 feet square in lot 11, Block 23 T
Riverside Addition to PascoA The southwest corner of said lot was noted by the
council as having been recorded, also attested by the City Attorney
SEWER -SERVICE TRAILER SITE:
A letter was read 'from the Federal Public Housing Authority requesting
a sewer extension from "A" Street to Ainsworth between 8th and 9th.to serve a
Federal Housing Trailer Camp. This was turned to the committee. The Federal
Housing Authority desires to have this -'installation done in the very near
future.
LICENSE TO USE STREETS AND ALLEYS:
The Federal Housing Authority is requesting authorization from the
council to use streets and alleys in Gantenbein and College Additions, not now
open for public use:
Alley Between B & C Streets. in W 1/2 of Block 7 Gantenbein Add.
Alley Between C & D Streets in W 1/2 of Block 10 Gantenbein Add.
Alleys in Block 9 Gantenbein Add.
C & D Street Between 5th & 6th Streets
D Street Between Bridge & 5th Street.
Alleys in Block 2 & 3 College Add.
8th Street Between A & B Streets
Vine Street Between "A" & "B" blocks 1 and 2 College Addition
RESOLUTION NO. 227. Motion made by Marshall, seconded by Booth
authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to sign license adopted by Resolution
No. 227. Motion carried by Roll Call Vote of four.
REGULAR ORDER OF BUSINESS RESUEED
ORDINANCE NO. 535;:
An ordinance relating to vacations, sick leave, and time off for city
employees of the City of Pasco. Motion made by Marshall, seconded by Baker
that Ordinance No. 535 has been given the first reading. Motion carried.
Motion made by Marshall, seconded by.Rodkey that Ordinance No. 535 be given the
second reading by title only. Motion carried. Motion made by Marshall,
seconded by Baker that Ordinance No. 535 have been given the second reading.
Motion.carried so ordered.
SEWER CONNECTION CHARGES:
' Deriving at a sewer connection charge was discussed, basing this on
each connection, size and -purpose of building to be served, or a property
footage. No decision was made.
CEMETERY LOT "MRS. WEST":
Mrs. West, through D. W. Zent, is seeking correction involving the
purchase of a cemetery lot. '
