READING 07 THE MINUTES:
Minutes of previous meeting were read in Paragraph tWo(2) of regular meeting
of April 18, 1944,stating Walter Jackson (colored) asked permission to erect a k
portable Shoe shine stand,etc., Motion made by Booth seconded by Linderman that the 1
word "colored" be deleted;motion carried Marshall lroting"No". ,

TEMPORARY PERMIT FOR HUTPTNTS
Mr. P.M.Haywoed appeared in behalf of Mr. Andrews to discuss plans etc., �
for a DuPont Employees, Reception Building; he explained that interviewing the
new arrivals at this location should keep a lot of their employees out of the depot;
would like the Permit for not less than 6 months. Hutments and building joining
hutments to be of ply board type. He was informed that it would be necessary to {
obtain a building Permit. No curbs to be cut without a permit to do so; also that
correct parking of Busses,ete., would be necessary to avoid traffic conjestion.
Motion made by. -'Booth and seconded by Linderman to grant a six month temporary permit.'
Motion carried so ordered. i
BUS DEPOT I
A Represenative of the Hahn Bus Co was presentIcand expected that plans had been
submitted to the city by their architect, he states Building designed to consolidate
with other comranies. No action was taken.
LOV-ELAND CARD TABLE LICENSE
Mr. Zent, legal council for Mr. Loveland was informed that the Chief of
Police would not recommend the renewal of Mr. Loveland's card table license. Mr. Zent,
states"that this procedure is not mentioned in the Ordinance that Mr. Loveland
should have had his license Revoked by the regular procedure,outlined by Ordinance
though notice of a hearing to revoke, and questions the right of the committee to
refuse Mr. Loveland a license.
The Council's plan to close all tables operated �in,conjuction with Cafe's
was explained; Mr. Loveland ££ ad no deposit on file^ apj?l�icsa�`-44to go through council
again following the filingode osit. City Clerk to notify Mr. Loveland of action
taken at that time.
DANCING PAVILION
Leasing or renting all the property the city has available in Block 35
Riverview Addition is desired by Mr. Laymans card table operator to establish a i
Recreational center and open air dancing pavilion just north of the Swimming Beach.
Motion made by Linderman seconded by Booth that a committee be appointed to make I
investigation and report. Ak-ot(L..&. L carried so ordered activities of this nature
might not be welcomed by people living in that location. Marshall, Booth, and
Chas Diemond were appointed to act.

Mr. Pepiot (County Commissioner)informed Mr. Marshall of the Goverments
desire to purchase property # the Rivervie;v Housing Project is now on and continue Zh�e..
with temporary project and at this time a letter and contract from the National
Housing Agency Federal Public Housing Authority,was read; The council are in favor ofl
abiding by the agreement, where by the buildings were'to be removed six months of ter: -k1
the duration,motion made by Marshall seconded by Diemond that the City Clerk contact
Mr.Pepiot at the Hotel and tell him the Council is not quite clear on goverment intens,
and until this can be clearfied they favor abiding by the agreement, letter and contract
turned to Mr. Merrick for the legal Department and Water Committee for report. Motion,
carried so ordered
REGULAR ORDER OF BUSINESS RESUMED; by unanimous consent.
Current bills against the City were read Motion made by Booth and seconded by Diemond
that all Vochers 'V'$ properly signed and approved be honored, motion carried by Roll
Call Vote of five(5).

W.P.B. Form 2774, application for authority to begin construction, for

ion and a copy of information submitted in Sec. 2 was presented by t1r Booth to`be
retained for the City files. Original application forwarded to the Mayor G.E.
Arnold, Regional Engineer -Water Division W.P.B. . 1355 Market St, San Francisco, Calif
via Air Mail. Motion made by Marshall seconded by Linderman that priority form be
accepted, motion carried so ordered.

REPORTS FROM COT 1ITTEE:
CLOSING ALLEYS ON 4th Street
The Planning committee ,paz��P the closing of the alley) on both sides
' of 4th between Lewis and Clark Streets, this was not favored and no action was
taken.
TRUCK ROUTE
Truck routing was again discussed,The planning committee rotas to make
further recommendations. No action taken.

WATER & SE 1� J _R . SEWER FOR HIGH GH SCHOOL EXTENSION
A letter was read from the The School Board directors, agreeing to pay
the city $200.00 upon request after a sewer has been laid in the alley between
Nixon and Margaret Sts from 3rd to First streets. This extension will be included in
i the East Side survey.
WATER C01UaTITTEE
Reports a main break near the Cunningham Hotel necessitated the install-
ation of another man hole.
PROPERTY IN PETTITS ADDITION:
Mr. Ribbins says he does not have a title insurance on this property,
Mr. Cox'is of the opinion that for cit,;; purposes the existing title would be o.k.
City Attorney to advise.
STREF±'TS & ALLEYS
Street committee -was granted more time to report on setting back curbs
as requested by Karl Krudwig.
CEMETERY
Cemetery committee reports that on the west side of the cemetery grounds
they would like to use the present road for grave and set the fenceA'MM< establish
another road. Motion made by Linderman and seconded by Diemond that the report be
accepted, motion carried so ordered.
REPORTS FROM OFFICERS:
City Treasurers reports for February and March 1944, were read, Water managers report
on earnings for March 1944 was read.
Police Judges Reports for February -and March 1944 was read.
April's report of the Police Department was read.
Planning Commission's report of a meeting April 28 was read.
The City Clerk furnished each member a copy of the March Budget report of all Depart-
ments.

EAST SIDE SEWER
Chas Diemond states that Mr. Zeidlhack advises surveying the East side and olhe r
extensions soon as possible and makd$y application for priorities -for manholes and
man hole covers.

eering, legal, fiscal agency and construction costs incurred in connection with the.
completion of the Sewage and Sewage disposal plant project set out by Ordinance No.
531, and the city clerk is hereby directed to honor same upon approval f th cit
councils motion made to adopt made by Rodkey seconded by Baker carried by by call
vote of six.
