E; Emil extra patrolma effective date October 14, 1943, drs. Mary Jane Campbell clerk Police Office, effectiv date October 1, 1943, Tlrs. Talae Hinds clerk Police office effective date T•dovember 1,43, DUNCAN LIFTER CORP. VOUCHER. A voucher covering ~the August & September payments to the Duncan I'Ieter Co as per contract, was read motion made by Rodkey seconded by Marshall that the voucher be honored motion carried by a roll call vote of six. City Clerk to make inquery o the Piller Meter Inc., as to the whereabouts of an order placed September 22nd. City Attorney to write the Duncan Meter Corp., regarding inferior metal in meter heads. REPORTS FROM COT:T1iIl'TEES: FIRE & LIGHT_S: Mr. Evans & 1,1Ir. Wagner of the Federal Works Agency were in the city contacted the Mayor and. City Attorney in the course of discussions recommenda tion was offered that the city make application for a light fire truck with pump to re place the old truck which is very unreliable motion was amde by Drennan seconded by Linderman that application for a light fire truck and pump be made to the Federal Work Agency motion carried so ordered. POLICE & LICEITSES; T,Irs. Campbell clerk in the Police office has requested a hhorter working week motion made by TZa.rshall seconded by Booth that 44 hours constit a working week for the clerks in the Police Office T;Iotion carried so ordered. WATER AND SITNER: Water TIanager reports hydrants on "A" street property leaking, City Attorney advises that hydrants be cut off or disconnected at the main and eliminated entirely motion made by Rodkey seconded by Diemond authorizing Water Manager D. W. IlcGhee to disconnect hydrants as out lined by the City Attorney motion ccarried so ordered; Hydrants to remain property of property owner. Motion made by Linderman seconded by Drennan that City Attorney proceed to obtain easement on "A" St through to Front St. motion carried so ordered. STREETS AND ALLE_Y_S Widening 5th street between Clark and Yakima was discus briefly more time asked by the committee. SURFACING AND GRADIITG STREETS in the vicin of tTie Park Side Housing project and from there to the city limits was recommended by the street committee First Street graded through would be a perminate improvement for truck routing, it was estimated to cost approximately $1000.00 motion made by Drennan seconded by Diemond that tYiis work be done motion carried so ordered. Paul Savage working on the street department would rather work a regular shift than put in such long hours. shifting the street cleaning work was discussed Brickey thinks he can manage that some other way his boys might be able to do the work. STREETS. PARKINGS E on west Henry were discussed size of parking, varity of trees to be planted and how th are to be lined up should all be kept under control of the city in order to be kept uniform with the rest of the city streets motion made by LZarshall seconded by Diemond that this be turned to the Street Committee they -are to call in the Park Committee for recommendations. PUBLIC_ BUILDINGS: Some of the office furniturd in the city hall needs smoothing up and varnishing the council favors this being done as soon as some one can be obtained to do the work. PARKS &_CEMETERY Work is being kept up at the cemetery. Mr. Booth is to over Sylvester Park. At the Beach the toilets have been removed and the water shup of Relative to the 10 or 20 acres adjacent the cemetery to the north motion was made by Rodkey seconded by Tilarshall that the Cemetery Committee negotiate ffoththe purchase of this property and report motion carried so ofdered. REPORTS FROI:'I OFFICERS: City Treasurers September report was read. City Clerk furnished each member with a copy of the budget report of all depadtments. A general discussion was entered into regarding the proposed Officers Club at Lewi and FirstaSt., The wooden structure behimd the Oasis, and Grigg's desiring to have Commercial District C-1 extended no action was taken.
