ADJOURNED MEETING C01&iITTEE ROOM AUGUST 24, 1943
CALL TO ORDER:
Meeting called to order at eight -fifteen oclock Honorable 'Hayor E. S.
Johnston presiding.
ROLL CALL: By Clerk, councilmen present were D. Byron Baker, C. L. Booth, Chas.
Diemond, 14. J. Linderman, V. F. 14Iarshall and D. F, Rodkey. Councilman W. E.
Drennan was absent also City Attorney Karl J. Grimm.
TENTATIVE_ BUDGET FOR 1244_INTRODUCED::
Each menber was furnished a copy of the tentative budget as presented by the
deaprtment managers, this was checked by the item; a few changes were comtemplatec
The Police Department set up for an additionabf six employees one assistant Chief
three patrolmen and two file clerks who will also take care of the police matrons
work.
The Library Board asked for $175.00 per month for the Librarian a rise of
$40.00 over this years salary, it was suggested that this be cut tip $150.00 per
month; I -Jr. Haylett spoke in behalf of the Library Board upholding the request
for $175.00 no decision was made at this time.
PARKING METER TJONIES : :
Parking Tleter collections were discussed also the paying of t -he salary of the
collector it was thought possible that this salary could be paid from the State
Aid Fund the city clerk is to tare this up with the City Attorney. It was decided
to keep all the Rleter money in one fund.
SEATER PROJECT CNUHITTEE::
The Mayor appointed D. F. Rodkey, T.2. J. Linderman, Chas Diemond and D. W. McGhee
to act as a special committee to work on the proposed sewer project. Motion made
by Marshall seconded by Booth that the appointment be accepted motion carried so
ordered. The Mayor requested that P.1r. Diemond be chairman of the committee also
that the firm of Richard&- Blum, Ine::� _'.. Rice act as fiscal agent.
RE VEST_TO_ATITEND_SEWER_ORDINANCE:
Mr. Haylett, Building Inspector reports that in some parts of t1he city out door
'toilets are being erected instead of installing septic tanks, some have informed
him that they had permission to erect a fly tight outl_door toilet. At this
time he is requesting an amendment to the sewer ordinance making it mandatory
that a septic tank be installed and no out side toilets beia3:lowed any place in
the city. The council body unanimously favored this amendment.
