S Johnston presiding. ROLL CALL By Clerk councilmen present were D. Byron Baker, Chas Diemond, W. E. Drennan, V. F. Marshall.and D. F. Rodkey. Abient were C. L. Booth and ISI. J. Lind man. PARKING METERS:: Regular order of business set aside through a motion made by Marshall seconded by Baker carried so ordered. To consider parking meter. contract which was mailed to the'Mayor by Mr. Tiefel of Spokane; inreading the contract over it was noticed that the pipe on which the meter would be mounted had been omitted; the clerk was instructed to return all four copies with tae letter stating the contract must read to enclude the pipe as represented by Mr. Tiefel. GRAVEL PIT (Harold Blanton Mr. Blanton requests..May 24, 1943 by letter, permission to resume `operatior of gravel pit owned by him.in Gray's.Amended Addition, council not in favor of further operation here account Mr. Blanton not having full filled his agreement to level or bring up to grade a strip approximately 120 feet deep along -Ainsworth Street, A,:leng:thy,)diicusston f611`0wed�-regard= ng0ths­;d'ep,th(=ol"Athe pit, amount of gravel -remaining, the amount to be ken out etc, Mr. Balnton states he expects to remove approximately 15,000 Cu. ys., but that the slope in block five will not in any way be endangered; He plans -on using waste material from -the plant for fil: ing purposes along Ainsworth and finish with top soil. Motion made by-Rafthgllhtl the permit bebgrantednfor a period of 18month with a six months performance bond in the amount of $5,000.00 to gugrintee to fill 120 feet to grade parallel with Ainsworth Street; Sand nole near track moved to make fill, extending from the Railroad tracks on the,west to the alley in block 18 on the east motion secoimddd by Rodkey carried unanimously. la t TRAILER CAMP SITUATION: 4 Dr. Ripley again discussed with the council the need for slacking up on the en- forcement of the trailer camp ordinancerduring the emergency that now exixts, par of the council body feels that this condition necessitates more precaution, Mr. Kurchner of the Health Department states that if the ordinance was to be enforced as written all Trailer Camps would have to be closed. Mrs Tuttle resented having a trailer ordered to move from her property owing to the fact that other violatios are being tolerated; Motion made by Marshall seconded by Baker that the trailer camp discussion be tabled to next meeting motion carried three voting yea and two nay motion carried. Regular order of business resumed;through a motion made by Marshall seco by Diemond, carried. APPLY FOR POLICE -SALARY RAISE: A motion was made vy Baker seconded by Drennan that the City Attorney abbly through THE WAR LABOR BOARD for a raise in salary for members of the Police Department, motion carried so orderdd. JOURNMENT: Motion made by Marshall seconded by Drennan that the meeting adjourn to next regular meeting night June 1, 1943, Teusday eight oclock P. M. motion carried.
