CALL TO ORDER: Meeting called to order at eight -ten P. M. Honorable Mayor E. S. Johnston
presiding.
ROLL CALL: By Clerk councilmen present were D. Byron Baker, Chas Diemond, ia_r. J. Lind
erman V:;,flF. Marshall and D. F. Rodkey; Councilmen absent C. -L. Booth and W.E.Drenna
CIVIL -SERVICE EXAMINATIONS FOR CHIEF OF POLICE.
The:Civil Service examination papers were returned from Seattle, Merlin Cooney and
Alfred McKibbin passed Forrest Campbell and Dennis Huntley did not; The Mayor re-
commended the appointment of Alfred L. McKibbin as chief of the Police department
effective immediately motion made by`Linderman seconded by Rodkey that the appointment
be accepted motion carried unanimous. Mention was made of Forrest Campbells intent to
resign and accept a position with the Du Pont Company, City Attorney advises that
municipal employees are frozen on their jobs. Police committee to meet Wednesday
evening eight oclock P.1 -T.
ROUTING TRAFrIU ON FIRST AVENUE:
The Planning Commission is working on this developement Mr. R. 0. Hall is to contact
the Northern Pacific Railway Officials relative to using a portion of the right of way..
PURCHASING GAS PUMP AND TANK FROU 10* BROWNING::
Mr. Browning is willing to sell the pump complete for $110.00 providing he may retain
the right to install another pump in the same.locgtion; Motion made by Diemond that
Mr. Browning be given permission to replace ;'_anis and pump within five years motion
seconded by Marshall carried so ordered. Mr. LT. B. Summers of the Wool Growers
has a tank to donate to the city but would like to have the alley backof the Growers
warehouse filled in.
SEWER PIPE LIN �EOLTZL - :: CHAS DIEI,IOND.
Chas Diemond made inquiry regarding the installation of a sewer pipe from the dry wel
serving the septic tanks at his Cabins and trailer camp, to the river just above the
swimming beach; It is was the opinion of the City Attorney that the State Health
Department would not allow this to be installed.
TELEPHONE:TO BE REPLACED IN SHOP:
The Water Committee request a letter be written to the Telephone Company asking for
this installation.
GUARD AT N.P. BRIDGE (Trailer)
A guard stationed at the North end of the N. P. Bridge wishes to park a trailer at
that location put in a septic tank and all necessary equipment to insure sanitary
conditions. Motion made by Rodkey to grant permission to the N.F. for a trailer loc-
ation for'30 days under the jurisdiction of the Health Department motion seconded by
Linderman; After consulting the map this location was found to be just out side of th
City limits, Rodkey and Linderman -with draw the motion.
TRAILER CAMP ORDINANCE
This Ordinance was again discussed Mr. Baker stated that much time and thought having
been but in considering necessities, healthn problems etc when the ordinance was
compiled. It was decided by"the council body to keep the Ordinance in tact; Granting
and renewing permits was frowned upon; In conclusion a motion 14as made by Marshall
seconded by Baker that the Trailer Camp Ordinance No. 489 be enforced as written
motion carried so ordered. It was agreed that permits now operating will not be re-
newed.
ADJOURNTIENT
Motion made by Baker seconded by Booth that the meeting adjourn to next regular
meeting night Tuesday May 18th 1943 eight oclock P. 1A. motion carried so ordered.
