CALL TO ORDER: T.1eeting called to order at eight oclock P. H. Honorable Mayor E. S. Johns on
presiding.
ROLL CALL: By clerk councilmen present were D. Byron Bkker, Chas Diemond, "d. E. Drenn n
L4. J. Linderman, V. F. T.Iarshall and D. F. Rodkey. Councilman absent -Cr.-rL. Booth.
READING OF THE 11INUTES: Minutes of the previsous meeting were read and approved.
COMIrIUNICATIONS: FIRE TRUCK INSURANCE: A letter was read brom G. H. Stringham also one fro.
Wendell Brown submit_t3n7g Insurance' rates on fire trucks and equipment, motion wad
made by Rodkey seconded by Linderman that the finance committee consider coverage
needed, obtain fitting rates and report motion carried so ordered.
FIRE HOSE A letter was read from the Federal Works Agency, stating the fire hose
would shipped T.Iarch 16, 1943.

FIRE AI'�iD LIGHT; Street lighting control has not been checked.
Fire truck has been reassembled and is back in service.
POLICE COTI. No bids were received on call for bias on police car callable 8
oclock March 16, 1943.
CIVIL SERVICE Board has not set another date for the Police Chief examination.
WATER DONT. met regarding water service for the Park Side Housing Project, the Com-
mittee favors charging same rate established for The Reconsignment Point, Little
Pasco and the Naval Reserve Aviation Base, this rate to continue for six months
after the duration, no opposition to the report was expressed; The Government is
to pay all installation costs water department to furnish meter, material, about
250 feet pipe and the labot at an estimated cost of $757.00 reimburseable through
the local HousingCommission.
STREETS AND ALLEYS: REGULAR' -.ORDER OF BUSINESS SET ASIDE through a motion made by
Ularshall seconded by Linderman carried so ordered to discuss with Government Rep-
resentatives working on the housing project regarding sewer connections; The Fed-
eral Housing Authorities drawings show 10" sewer pipe to be used, the city has an
18" sewer main 10001from the proposed project and would much prefer that a 15" sew r
pipe be used and also installed at the established grade. Mr Carlson suggested
writing to Frank Krutsinger Federal Housing Authority Seattle Washington 1326, 5th
Ave., Referring to Pro.Wash.45152 and 45200 and inquire if it'would be possible to
increase size of sewer pipe from 10" to 15". The expense of sewer installation to
be borne by the Federal Housing Agency. City may be requested to pay difference
in cost of larger pipe.

blocks of surfacing, reimbutseable by gas tax money.
PUBLIC BUILDINGS: wiring at the.city hall has not been inspected, more time was ask d.
PARKS & CEMETERY: The new caretaker at the Cemetery is doing a good job reports T.Ir.

CITY ATTORNEY: Nothing has been heard from contractors relative to gravel pit situat'on.
Trains blocking Ainsworth; The superintendent of the Northern Pacific in Spokane
advises they will eliminate this blocking as much as possible. A by pass under th
approach of the railroad bridge was considered, Linderman -spoke of contacting Nort ern
Pacific authorities for permission to extend this pempurary roadway, part of which
would be on Northern Pacific property Motion made by Rodkey to have committee make
this contact with the Northern Pacific Railroad Co and report results motion carr Ad
so orderdd.
REPORTS FROM OFFICERS:
City Treasurer's monthly report was read.
Building Inspector's monthly report was read.
Water Manager's monthly report was read.
City Clerk burnished each member with a monthly budger report of all departments.
READING OF RESOLUTIONS AND ORDINANCES; RESOLUTION NO. 197. Authorizing the extension
of warranty deed conveying to the United States of America for a Federal Recr.eatio

UNFINISHED.BUSINESS: Due to increased war activities and population, the need of a filtration
plant and auxiliary pumping unite becomes more and more eminent, much concern was
expressed over pumping the enormous supply of water that will be needed this summer,
it was the general opinion of the council that an effort should be made at this tine
to obtain the filtration plant and pumping unite requested as a Federal Grant in
1942, applications having been prepared and presented to the Federal Works Agency
but not approved. Notion made b1,7 Marshall seconded by Linderman that the necessar
steps be taken and requests made for both the Filtration Plant and the Auxiliary
Pumping Unite motion carried unanimous.

1943, seven oclock P. IA. motion carried so ordered.
