Johns presiding. ROLL CALL: By Clerk Councilmen present were C. H. Brewer, W. R. Cox, R. 0. Hall, 1,2. J. Linderman and A. M. Westby. D. Byron Baker arrived at eight -thirty, M. J. T,AcDonnell was absent. READING OF THE MINUTES: Minutes of the prebious meeting were read and approved. REPORTS FROM COM1,11ITTEES:: POLICE CO104ITTEE; reports TJ.rs Lillian Shreeve succeeds Mildred Liston as Police Matron, Mayor to confirm by letter. STREET & ALLEY CO18,1ITTEE: Brewer states Brickey desires to purchase forty sacks of cement motion made by Linderman -seconded by Baker favoring the purchase, motion carried so ordered. CITY BUILDINGS COIZAITTEE, Cox reports an unusual amount of noise and rumbling in City Hall heating system the water seems to get to hot and steam is unable to exc4 it was thought best to have Fred Scott make a check on this condition. The elects heater should be discontinued. PARKS AND CEMETERY: Caretaker to order fertilizer for Volunteer Park, Sample to pi Lumber for future needs. CITY ATTORNEY: advises J. F. Sullivan has two more days in which to pay past due 1 of $5—$.95. -~Bonds for Patrolman can be obtained through the Citizens Abstract Offic where applicants complyrwith�+b6hding company's requirements. READING OF ORDINANCES:: ORDINANCE NO. 499 known as the gravel pit ordinance was discussed, Col still favor having Blanton bring his gravel pit property on Ainsworth Ave., up to grade, City Attorney states Blanton is negotiating with the S. P. & S. R. R. Co., for permission to pull the high ground or noles into the pit. Holding contractors responsible was also considered, a motion was made by Westby seconded by Beker that a letter be forwarded to Clifton Applegate and Henry Georg of Spokane and al: other parties concerned to the effect that they are to repiar all damages and re- turn this property to its former state motion carried so ordered; In case this i; not complied with a survey will have to be made and an estimate of damages compilf Lettersto be written by the City Attorney. ORDINANCE NO. 504 RENATJIING CERTAIN STREETS: The extension of South Fol Street to Bridge, is to be called Fourth Street South Extension, the present Four - Street extending east of the tracts will remain as Fourth St. and the other stree- to the east will be called Third, Second and First in succession this was favored unanimously by the council body, Ordinance No. 504 to be rewritten. 11ISCELLANEOUS:: DENNIS HU_NTL_EYREGULAR PETROLIYTAN: A letter was read from Mayor E. S. Johnston advising that November 1, 1942^Dennis Huntley will have completed his six months probation period and is now a regular Patrolman. BLADE GIVEN SCRAP DRIVE :::: Karl Krudwig managing the scrap drive was contacted regarding the selling of the blade to a farmer in Benton County, after having been given to the drive and sold to the salvage collector, Karl Krud- wig advises that Tony Schultz, authorized collector by the Government has a Govern ment ruling included in scrap drive instructions which states that useful pieces can be sold but no profit realized and money turned in BONE POWER BILL RESOLUTION was ordered held up to some future date.
