R.. 0. Hall presiding Officer appointed by -Council. ROLL CALL: By Clerk Councilmen present were D. Byron Baker,W. R. Cox, G. K. Ebersole and R. 0. Hall; Councilmen absent were M. J. Linderman and M. J. McDonnell. READING OF THE MINUTES: Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. CORRESPONDENCE: A letter was read from Mrs Richard Crabbe desiring to purchase approximat ly 400 feet of used 12 inch pipe from the dater Department, motion made by Cox seconded by Ebersole that the Water Manager be authorized to offer for sale approximately 450 fe t of used 12 inch pipe at .50¢ per foot motion carried so ordered. J. F. SULLIVAN'S NOTE PAST DUE: An unpaid sixty day note due September 9th 1942 signed by John F, -Sullivan was brougt to the attention of the Council, motion made by Baker seconded.by Ebersole that the City Attorney be instructed to collect motiofL carried so ordered. BONE POWER BILL_ MEETING PLACE _RESOLUTION: 'A�letter and resolution from H. D. Walker, City Attorney of Cheney Washington was re d I regarding the Bone Power Bill and requesting by resolution that future hearings on s id S.B. 2430 and H.R.6890 be held in some convenient location in the state of Oregon or Washington or both. Action to be taken at a later meeting by unanimous consent. LIBRARIA_N'S SALARY RAISE: A letter of confirmation from the President of the Library Board was read, confirm the Librarian's salary raise as arranged in the 1943 tentative budget, $1200.00, 19 annual salary was raised to $16,20.00 this amount included $120.00 The Board desired pay in 1942. COUNCILMAN G. K._EB_ERSOL_E_RESIGNS: A letter—was read from G. K. Eberzole tendering his resignation, motion made by Cox seconded by Baker to accept the resignation motion carried so ordered, City Clerk to acknowledge. REPORTS FROM C015AITTEES: POLICE OMMITTEE: Reports Clarence Farley has resigned from the Police Department to accept a position with the State Patrol, Forest Campbell succeeded Farley on the Pol: Department as Patrolman. MEALS TICKETS FOR PRISONERS:.the police and Committee are fid out a meal ticket system in tripliaate whereby the board bill voucher can be checked with meal ticket, Two methods were mentioned but no decision made. LICENSE COLLECTIONS: City Clerk requests of the Police Committee, assistance through the Police Department in collecting delinquent licenses. CITY STREET; Road to City Dump has been bladed and "No dumping of garbage" signs po: SCRAP IRON SOLD for the drive in the amount of $19.83. WERNETT PROPERTY ON TACOMA will probably not be sold, party holding mortgage has fir: choice. REPORTS -FROM OFFICERS: POLICE JUDGE's report for August 1942 shows fines collected in the amount of $279.00, City Treasurer's August report was read. Water Manager's August report was read. City Clerk furnished each member with a budget report of all departments. REGULAR ORDER OF BUSINESS SET ASIDE through a motion made by Baker seconded by.Cox t( consider the 1943 tentative budget. The Janitor's salary was ser at $480.00, $1000.( set up as an Accumulative Building or Alteration Fund, Reimbursement Fund of $9,322.! thus making the grand total $71,929.24. There was also added at this time $250.00 under General Government for Civilian Defense necessities. MISCELLANEOUS: Karl J, Grimm requeste the Council -'to consider a voucher presented f payment covering expenses to Seattle;9 °his was held up from September 1st. Motion mac Cox seconded by Baker that the bill be paid motion carried by roll call vote of four. ADJOURNMENT: Motion made by Baker seconded by Cox that the meeting adjourn to October 5tk 1942, the First Monday of`October at which time the budget for 1943 will be adopted motion carried so ordered.
