READING.OF THE MINUTES: Minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved as read. REGULAR ORDER OF BUSINESS SET ASIDE through a motion made by Linderman seconded by Cox carried so ordered to consider an amendment to Ordinance No. 478, known av the Gross Income Tax Ordinance, the ordinance recommended by -,the Pacific Telephone Company as a amendment was read by the Clerk, motion bydNc1FOnfielley seconded by Cox that the Count meet with the City Attorney and make the decision motion carried so ordered, City Att to furnish copy of Pacific Power& Light Franchise, meeting to take place ab t_he Comm Room Sunday morning August 30, 1942. C 01R,211UNICATIONS: RAISE IN SALARY FOR LIBRARIAN: A letter was read from the Library Board requesting that the Librarian's salary be raised from $100.00 per month to $120.00 per month for the balance of the year, this was turned to the City Attorney for.investigation and report. VALERIA LAMB DEPUTY TREASURER: Z. - A letter was read from the acting City Treasurer stating -she had employed Valeria Lam as deputy effective date August 24, 1942. REPORTS FROM COI&IITTEES: WATER CO��'�,,ZITTEE reports a change is underway to raise the amount of water consumers deposits. The PUMPS have been installed at the pumping plant, final inspection not yet made. Street patch material in stock pile on First Street is disappearing; Clark Street near Fourth will be graded to the curb thus improving parking conditions; The grading of a street in Grays Amended Addition -between the two gravel pits will improve a hazardous now exist - near the embankment. THE AIR MAIL SERVICE MEMORIAL has been placed in Volunteer park, City Clerk - to write a letter of appreciation to Fred -Huber for extending the use of his truck anc ,a man to assist in making this transfer from the old Air Port. NH DEVELOPMENTS IN WATER CONTRACT with Navy Air Base. City Attorney makes report of Seattle trip, He is of the opinion that the City will gE the auxiliary pumping unit, but that the filtration plant looks dubious; if granted critical materials would probably have to be replaces by substitutes thus necessitat6l altering plans as drawn. He also negotiated with the Northern Pacific Railway Compan3 for a ninety-nine year lease on the pump house site and another site for the auxiliar3 pumping unit; Linderman favors placing the auxiliary pumping unit on City Property ju: west of the pump house. He reports no information could be obtained regarding critical housing. The Federal Works Agency sees the need of a nurses home here whereby releas7 badly needed space in the hospital. REPORTS FROM OFFICERS:: The City Treasurer's monthly report was read. Police -Judge's report for the month of July shows fines collected in the amount of $345.0p. Water Manager's Monthly report was read. Building Inspector's monthly report shows five permits issued, valuation $5,490.00. The City Clerk furnished each member with a monthly budget report, of each department.. Motion made by Linderman seconded by Hall that: the reports be accepted motion carried so ordered. READING OF ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONSs: Resolution No.189 was read regarding a raise in salary for the Librarian, this was t the City Attorney to contact the Librarary board members and make a report. ORDINANCE NO. 498 AMENDING SECTION FIVE OF ORDINANCE 311, closing the closing time f dances from twelve mid night to twelve -thirty, motion made by Cox seconded by Linder: that Ordinance No 498 be tabled indefinitely motion carried so ordered. ORDINANCE NO. 492;; AN ORDINANCE ORDERINN-SUSPENSIONPF CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF THE BUIL AND SEWER ORDINANCES: Motion made by Cox seconded by Linderman that Ordinance No. 499 given the second reading by title only motion carried so ordered, Motion made by Hall seconded by Linderman that Ordinance No 299 has been'given the second reading motion carried so ordered. Lotion made by Linderman seconded by Cox that Ordinance No 499 be given the third reading in full motion carried so ordered. Motion made by Linderman seconded by Hall that Ordinance No. 499 has been given the third reading motion carri so ordered. A discussion followed, at this point Linderman left the meeting followed'a few minutes later by McDonnell with -no quorum remaining the meeting was adjourned.
