J presiding. ROLL CALL:: By Clerk Councilmen present were D. Byron Baker, W. R. Cox, C. V. .Downey, a R. 0. Hall. Councilmen absent .were 119.-J. Linderman and I.1. J. hTcDonnell. REGULAR ORDER OF BUSINESS SET ASIDE, so ordered. through a motion made by Downey seconded by Cox carried FILTRATIO=N PLANT APPLICATION:: City Karl J1 Grimm asks.permission -of the Council to confer with G. D. Hall engineer, now in Seattle, regarding Federal Grant Filtration Plahl and auxiliary pumping unit, and to present application to the Federal Works Agency. Motion made by Dox-sgconded by Ppwney,.that the City Attorney be authorized to present application as prepared motion carried so ordered. Idotion made by Baker seconded by Cox that an - expense account be allowed. of approximately $20.00 motion carried so ordered without dissent. RESOLUTION NO. 190 was read, no action taken. SUBSTITUTE REQUESTED FOR CAST IRON SEWER PIPE: Contractor Bozarth requests t-hat,the building and sewer Ordinance be tempor ially revised, permitting the use of concrete pipe from the building to the property line; action to be taken at the next mLeeting. SALARY RAISE ASKEDB.Y POLICE INTRON ASSISTANT: ASSISTAIvT Police Matron Lillian Shreeve requested of thb Council that the Police Matron salary be raised, this was turned to the Police Committee. GRAVEL PIT BANK HAZARD: Pers. Jones of Gras Amended Addition, to Pasco, reports a hazardous conditi n exixts between Ainsworth Av ., and the S.P.&: S. spurtracks, caased by excavating san and gravel leaving an abrupt bank along the alley; this was turned to the Street Com- mittee. OCCUPATIONAL TAX:: Mr. Keifer of the Pacific Telephone Company brought up the subject again -of tax reduction in connection with free phone service granted the City by franchise, and is seeking to have the equivalent taken from the an-ount of gross income; he pre- sented copies of an ordinance that ,7iould amend Ordinance No. 478, for consideration. Committee handling this investigation have requested that the council body make the decision, which vrill.be taken up at the next meeting. CITY TREASURER RESIGNS The resignation of T:Tary H. Mee as City Treasurer of the City of Pasco , effective August 17; 1942 was read. Motion made by Cox seconded by Downey that the resignation be accepted motion carried so ordered. TELLA RIDDLE: APPOINTED CITY_ TREASURER. Motion made by Baker seconded by Cox that Tella Riddle now deputy Treasure: be appointed to act as City Treasurer to the expiration of the present term of office motion carried so ordered. G. K. Ebersole, appointed Councilman;; Motion made by Hall seconded by Downey G. K. Ebersole be appointed to succeed Robert James on the council motion carried so ordered. Fire Chief James Knowlton makes inquires relative to placing his position under Civil Service, no action taken. REGULAR ORDER OF BUSIT ESS RESUIVTED by unanimous consent.
