CALL TO ORDER: Meeting call to order at eight -seventeen oclock Honorable Mayor E. S.,John
presiding.
ROLL CALL::: By Clerk Councilmen present were W.R.Cox, C.V.Downey, R.O.Hall, and M.J.
Linderman. Councilmen absent were D.Byron Baker and M.J.McDonnell:

ROBERT E. JAIJES RES_I_GNS: A letter was read from Robert E. James under d
of July 22, 1942 tendering his resignation as Councilman; Motion made by Linderman
seconded by Hall that the resignatioftbbe accepted and a letter of acknowledgement an
appreciation be written by the Clerk.
REPORTS FROM CONI-JITTEES::
POLICE COISMITTEE, reports parking lot adjacent City Hall os being systemized for re-
gulation parking, work furnished by the Street Department. BONDS:: City Attorney to
to take up the local bond agencies the furnishing of bonds to the patrolmen and finan
through next years budget. TRAFFIC SIGNS have been ordered through the Street Depar
from The State Penitentiary at a cost of $27.00. the
WATER C0 2:IITTEE REPORTS:: Platform for second pump is in/processsof making. The new
chlorinator has'been installed. no pipe is bEing 1a*end account dry weather. There is
about 6000 feet of pipe on hand.
STREETS & ALLEY'S The gravel pit situation will be gone into by the Street Committee,
Mayor and City Attorney Councilman•Cox to act with the committee in lieu of Jamesq th
will meet Friday at seven -thirty P.hI..
PAUL SAVAGE'S delinquent water bill, City Clerk authorized to deduct $5.00 from his
July paycheck.
PARKS & CEEIETERY: Committee to meet Sunday August 2nd at 10;30 A.M. to make a decision
as to the location of the Air Mail Service Memorial stone, the Air bPort is now a part
the U. S. Navy Training Base and they request that the stone be moved. The Committee
will also try to solve the supervision problem at the Beach, as there is no life guard
available. SYLVESTERR 'ARK the weeds are high and the tennis nets need attention.
FIRE & LIGHT:: Downey reports close supervision and instruction is needed in the Fire
Department. HAVSTED has not repaired broken side walk at 5th and Clark.
REPORTS FROM OlFFICERS.
WATER MANAGER, CITY TTEASURER AND BUDDING INSPECTOR's monthly reports
were read, the City Clerk furnished each member with a monthly budger report of all
departments, motion made by Downey seconded by Linderman that the reports be accepted
motion carried so orderdd.

City Clerk to write Lieutenant 11cD Preacher requesting that the Austin Co. be re
quired to resurface Francis Street from alley to Henry St., after having been
dug up for %a� pipes.

'Vater meter located at the. Navy Training Base, legkage, or service of any type
should betaken care of by the Navy and so stipulated in contract, City Attorney
to negotiate contfact.-

AUXILIARY PULIPING PLANT ARID TRUNK LINE SEWER::
A letter was read from D. D. Hall stating that -drawings submitted for P.W.A
application on a trunk line sewer and auxiliary pumping Plant, met with the re-
quirments and he ( Mr. Hall) is,preparing other necessary data.
NEW BUSINESS::
BUSITyESS LICENZE FOR LEGION HALL::
Private,parties given by members of the Legion at the Legion Hall, being allowed
to dance and aell beer are classified by decision of the Council "unanimously" to
obtain a Business License in the amount of $25.00.
